Group Trip FP+ Question -- Please help if you can!

Hi all! I'm the head chaperone for a senior Disney/Universal trip in March. Our tickets were ordered by the travel company today and I should be get them within a week. I was wondering if anyone else on here has taken a group to Disney since FP+ has been instituted. I went with my family back in June so I'm very familiar with the system and how to use it. I'm concerned about doing it ahead of time with my students though. In a perfect world, I'd like them to create their own "My Disney Experience" accounts and link their tickets to their own accounts, therefore being able to manage their own fast passes. Does it work like this? Any insight to taking a group trip under the new system would be great. Thanks!
