We're planning a trip for this August. It will be my DH, me, son 17, his friend 16, daughter 13, and her friend 12. Need your advice on where to stay. Would love to go back to Beach Club, but getting 2 rooms there would be pretty spendy. Any suggestions? Would getting a couple of APs help in discounting the rooms? Thanks

How about 2 connecting rooms at an AllStar resort, girls in one, guys in the other? Getting an AP for at least one of you would help to get a good price on the rooms and would be worth investing in for one of the adult members of your party.

the carribean beach is the biggest of the moderates and the contemporary is the biggest of the deluxes, besides grand floridian, i would stay at the carribean beach resort because there were 3 adults at the all star movies, in one room this november and i would not stay in a room that small again, the carribean beach is nice because the even have a big curtain you can pull if you want to get dressed while someone is in the bathroom, we alwayds stay in cbr in jamacia scetion, its absolutely beautiful walking to the old port royale at nite or the main pool.

You might want to look on the DVC (Points for Rent) Board. You can get some very good deals. I had a trip planned for 8 and was planning on getting a BCV using this route. It would have been much cheaper (but had a change of plans - rats!).

Let me strongly second the suggestion of renting a villa from someone on the rent/trade board. We did this last summer with a party of six and had a GREAT time. We did not spend much more than we would have for a moderate room and got a 2BR villa at OKW. Two people slept in the King bed in one BR and 2 others in the Queen beds in the second BR. The last two (kids) slept on the fold out couch. Everyone loved it.

Other than that, I'd rec. two rooms at a moderate (our fav. is POFQ).

Good luck deciding.

There are televisions in both bedrooms AND in the livingroom. There is also a full kitchen, a washer/dryer and a (heavenly) Jacuzzi in the Master bedroom. (Can you tell I'm a DVC member?)

Let me also recommend renting points from a DVC owner & getting nothing smaller than a 2BR. You will get 2 baths, along with sleeping accommodations for 8.

I don't know what your sleeping arrangements would be but you can put the boys in living area & give the girls the 2nd bedroom or vice versa. You would also have some privacy in the master bedroom - which may be especially nice because you have non-family members travelling with you.

I think you would love a DVC & really appreciate having the larger accommodations. :bounce:

Don't forget the full-sized kitchen with full-sized refridgerator plus ice!!! Great for saving money on sodas, milk and juice. Plus some frozen pizza's or something.

And that balcony off of the living room and master suite is heavenly!!!:Pinkbounc

How difficult is it to plan your Disney vacation this way? I too have a family of 6 and would rather stay at a Deluxe but having to get two rooms is so much money.

Too much money in my opinion....I had the luxury of staying at the Beach Club last week (friend is DVC) and had a 1 bedroom (which wouldnt fit my family of 6) and although it was beautiful, I found it a little tight for the four of us (adults).....and my friend says those rooms go for over $400 a night.....that CANT be true!! I can imagine what a 2 bedroom would go for. I guess if you need to think about what you are paying for that room you really shouldnt stay there. I think you need to have enough money that it isnt even a thought because in my opinion - the room just wasnt worth that amount of $.

Hope I didnt insult anyone...........

$400 a night maybe the cash price for a 1bedroom. Renting points is usually $10 or less a point and the most a 2bedroom would likely be is 40points for a weeknight. That would be $400 or less a night for a 2bedroom.

If space is the primary concern I'd stay at OKW the rooms they are much larger than the other DVC resorts. They also require less points so they are less expensive. If location is the primary concern BWV or BCV would probably be best.

I'm going in December 2003 (six of us). We're staying at HIFS for $109. We can have a two-room suite instead of getting two rooms. I don't know what the August pricing would be. Check hifamilysuites.com
