Disney has a group campsite at Fort Wilderness...6 to be exact. I just found out about this. Trying to plan a trip with my BSA Venture Crew in 2007. Has anybody stayed at one of these group site area before? Is it close to the showers/restrooms....close to bus shuttle? Lots of trees or not? Any info. would be appreciated.

I have never stayed at group camping but I do know it has it's own comfort station(bath house) and bus stop. Disney CRO may be your best bet for more info or call FW directly.

Go to Disneycampers.com, thay have a little info under Frequent questions about a area at Creekside Meadow for groups of twenty and more. I was walking our dog on a dogwalk behind loop 800 for a about 1/4 mile and came across a large area of bbq pits and a comfort station, nobody was around, it looked like a area for a large group.

In my Boy Scout Troop we would call it a group campsite for 6 "patrols" and I guess you would call them crews. The campsite is called Creekside Meadow and I stayed there as a boy in a Troop back in 1980 :teeth: . But having been at FW this summer, it is basically the same. It has multiple areas so you may not get exclusive use of the campsite unless you bring a lot of folks. The FW management probably has a ratio of so-many-people per site.

It is just past the 2000 loop and does receive bus service (when folks are staying there). I believe it would be on the Purple internal FW bus line that runs between Pioneer Hall and the front gate. It has a bathhouse as all loops do. One convenient feature is that it has a short-cut bridge/trail into the 900 loop so you can go very directly to the main Meadow Trading post, the main pool, the campfire/singalong area :3dglasses , and the boat/bike rental barn.

Each of the patrol/crew group areas has a fire ring, 2-3 picnic tables, a wide area for tents, a message board, plus a water hookup is nearby. I don't recall seeing any electrical outlets. There is a gravel parking lot next to it where groups seem to be allowed to stash their vehicles (each campsite has a strict Disney limit of 1 vehicle I think so being able to have multiple vehicles nearby is a plus.). It is mostly in the open with not too many if any interior trees just those along the edges. It is roughly shaped as a 3-sided triangle. I seem to recall a couple charcoal grill units but can't recall if each of the six sites had one. :stir:

Sounds like a great idea! I'm trying to talk my Troop with my sons into going during Spring Break like you.
