Does anyone know if a towncar/limo service can get in to THV for a pickup? We are considering using a car service to get from THV to the Port, but I was not sure if they could get thru the security gates to the THV area or if we would have to be picked up at the main SSR check in area.

The THV gate is not manned. You need a room key to get in. I'm not sure if there's an intercom button. However, I seem to recall when I got a taxi from SSR three or four years ago, we had to meet them at the carriage house. They weren't supposed to come directly to a specific room number and wouldn't pick us up in the Paddock. Your experience may vary.

Last time we stayed at the THV, my parents joined us later in the day after we'd checked in. They called me when they were close, and I walked up to the gate with a key and let them in. After having done that, and standing there in the street waiting for them (awkward location with no sidewalk), I wished I had told them to just meet me in the Grandstand and given them their key there.

I'm curious about the pick up transportation too. We are also considering going from THV to the Port via limo service. We will have a ton of luggage, since there will be 9 of us. :)

Last time we were down, we went over to THV just to drive thru and check it out, and we had to use the intercom button and we had to show either our room key or our DVC card (there is a camera there where the intercom button is, can't remember which, so while I know there is the intercom, I am not sure if they would let someone that is not a DVC member thru or not.

there is an intercom and I would let the front desk know you were expecting one....they should be able to access the area. We needed a cab, but it was easier just to get it from the front lobby...on the way back, we used the intercom system to get back in (plus showing room card)

We used a towncar service there on our last visit and one of us had to go down to the security gate and "open" it with our room key so that the car could drive to our villa to load up our luggage.

When we had asked about this at the front desk, we were told that this was an option. The other option was to call Bell Services and have them come pick up our stuff and the driver could meet us at the SSR Carriage House. Considering how long it had taken Bell Services to get our luggage to the villa on our arrival, we decided walking to the gate was the lesser of 2 evils.

The towncar driver called us when he was almost there so that one of us didn't have to sit at the gate waiting. Of course, my husband then rode back to the treehouse with the driver.

Thanks for the reply, this is kind of what I expected, but it is good to have it confirmed.

Yes, thank you very much for the info.

I think that will work out great.
