Hi everyone,

I have a question that I'd be really grateful if you could help me with.

We've booked DCL transfers from Disney's Contemporary Resort to Port Canaveral on 14th November. We're not actually staying at the Contemporary until after our cruise, so my question is this:

What time does the DCL coach arrive/depart the Contemporary? I've tried asking Disney direct, but they keep telling us that our baggage will be picked up from our room and we'll receive a voicemail (or 'under the door' message) with our departure time. They don't seem to be able to grasp that we won't be staying at the Contemporary the night before, and we just want to know when to arrive at the resort to make our transfer.

Hope this makes sense, and that someone can help me. Nice to be back on the boards after a couple of years away, seems more positive than when I left!

Thanks guys

K x :goodvibes

Why are you leaving from the Contemporaray if you aren't staying there?

The reason they can't tell you is that the schedule varies cruise to cruise based on the number of people using the transfers and which resorts they are at. (If only a few are picked up at that resort, you may need to be picked up a little earlier to go to another resort and pick up passengers there.)

They are quoting you the normal process so I would expect that everyone you talk to is going to answer the same way. But even if you aren't staying at the resort, you should be able to call DCL the day before to get the schedule (the general reservationist may not be able to answer your question but there would be someone who has it). We had to do that when we stayed at Pop Century since we didn't get the letter and noone at the front desk knew anything about DCL.

Are you leaving from the Contemporary because you are leaving a car or luggage there? If so, have you checked with the resort that they will allow that? (Don't really need to know why, just wanted to make sure you weren't assuming anything because I've heard stories both ways -- some resorts would hold luggage; some wouldn't. Same with parking.)

It might be easier (and cheaper) to use a private service to get there. Then they can pick you up where you are and drop you back where you want to be (and you can tell THEM when you'd like to be picked up). We used Orlando Chauffered Service (OCS) and they were great (and significantly more affordable than the DCL price).

Most people using DCL transport from a resort are actually staying there the night before. Therefore, they are giving you the SOP response.

Where are you staying the night before your cruise that you want to be picked up at the Contemporary?

Passenger pick up from WDW resorts range from 11:30-12:30. Luggage is not taken on the coaches; it goes by truck and is picked up from hotel rooms at/about 8 am. I guess there's no good reason it couldn't go under the bus with you.

Like the others, I'm totally puzzled as to why you would not choose to depart from wherever you will be staying the night before...or if you have a car, why you would not drive to the port and leave the car at one of the several parking places that offer a shuttle to the port as part of the deal. It seems like a lot of money for DCL transfers if you aren't staying there. If you are staying elsewhere, you could choose a one way OR round trip towncar service from wherever you are staying.
