Ground transfer through Disney in Barcelona or get cab?

Hello: We are cruising the Mediterranean in July and have never been overseas. Is it better to book a ground transport through Disney to get to the port from the airport or go it alone? We land at 1005 am.

City controlled Taxis, the yellow and black are plentiful, regulated, and marshals abd it takes 30 minutes.

We had bad experiences with pre paid services like Barcelona day tours.

No train to port, DCL transfers good, but expensive, and their hotels to the East of the city.

If you've never been overseas, and you're planning on going straight to the port on the same day you land and not doing sightseeing, the DCL bus would be easiest and would require little effort/brainpower etc. on your part. We are flying into Barcelona the day before the ship leaves, so we are taking the Metro to our hotel the first day and then a taxi from our hotel to port the next day. We are, however, using DCL transport from the ship to the airport at the end of the cruise.
Really, it all depends on your own personal comfort level. The first time my husband and I traveled overseas it was a big learning curve for us navigating the subways, etc. (and that was just in London, where there was no language barrier) but now we don't worry about that sort of thing at all when it's just the two of us. With kids, though, we don't want to have to worry about interpreting train schedules, etc. esp. in a foreign language, with whiny kids in tow, which is why we are doing mostly DCL excursions on our Med cruise.

Both will be simple. Using official airport taxi will be slightly simpler in terms of finding it but of course you will have to give them the address of where you want to go and have cash with you to pay.

Don't know prices for either, depends on how many there are of you of course.

This. I make it a practice to never fly in to arrive the day of the cruise, but if I had 100% no other choice, I would take ship-based transportation - and TBH in that case I'd look into doing my air through the cruise line as well so they 100% know what your schedule is and can track your travels.

We have done both; however, the taxis can only carry little luggages. We almost got stuck at our hotel before leaving for the airport, because the taxis didn't want our fare due to the amount of taxis. One lady was super nice and took us. We tipped her well. We have been to Barcelona twice and used the Disney bus from the port to the airlines. It was good and didn't have to worry if they had enough room for us and our luggage in the taxi.

There are different types of taxis at the marshals inc large SUV vans.

i wasn't going to say this, but since you already have, i have to agree with you.
flying in the same day of any cruise is foolhardy - and if you're flying transatlantic, well, it's asking for trouble...

we're currently planning our cruise for 2019 - we have to fly into barcelona - and even though we live on the mediterranean, my family still refuses to fly in the same day...
too many things can go wrong... so we'll fly in on friday and make a weekend of it in barcelona...(can't fly on saturday, so it has to be friday)...

but i'm guessing it's too late for them to change their flight to a day earlier.....but if they can, they should...
