Grosvenor

hi amy, it's just your brother roque
:D

Went on family Disney vacation in fall of 2001. My parents and Aunt and Uncle flew down 5 days before us. My husband and I stayed at the Poly, while the rest of my family went to Grovsners. My brother, sister in law and 2 small children were in 1 room which smelled like vomit (really bad). They had a connecting room with my parents. They changed the rooms, which was a pain since my perents were there with other family members and all had to move to another floor becauuse they needed 3 rooms together. The rooms were dirty ie: stained carpets, mold in bathroom....shabby and dirty. I could not believe how discusting it was, and I saw it with my own eyes. I was told by family members that the food in the hotel was discusting (breakfast). The busses did not run on time and some were too crowded to get on.
They laughed at us when we refused to stay there and spend more money for the Poly.
They had rented a car and did a tremendous amount of walking. We did not rent a car, since we had the monorail at our resort. My Nephews birthday party was at Chef Mickey's. They were 45 minutes late because of sitting in traffic (Sat. night) into the resorts. We walked out the resort on to the monorail and were in the Contemp. in 10 minutes.
Every morning they were late to the park as they did not arrive until 11 or so. My husband and I were there at least 1 -2 hours before them, stressfree and relaxed and enjoying ourselves.
Guess who had the last laugh ??? The Poly was so much worth the extra $$..

I know you don't spend a lot of time in your room on a Disney vacation, but you don't realize just how impotant a room is until you are in a place that is gross.

We were thinking of going to the Grovesnor for one day as a warmup to our stay at CBR , Would the Court Yard Marriot at Down Town Disney be better?

I've stayed at both. My comments regarding the Grosvenor are simple: DON'T DO IT! The Courtyard is a much better choice, IMHO.

I hear you all loud and clear. Saving $10 a night is not worth it. I am going to book a value or the Marriott. Thanks DIS-ers!!!

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!. I had to stay there for a conference in 1998, it was a dump then, and I guess it still is. I could not wait for the conference to end to I could run away to on property. Our rooms were moldy smelling, and very worn out. If I had to stay off site again, and in that area, I would do the Courtyard, because the rates are good, and they are usually well kept for the corporate clientelle.

He has never gotten it, he will never get it, so what I do.....

I leave him at home and go SOLO!!!! It helps that I get tons more vacation time than he does, so he can't come anyway.

We do have a lot of other interests together, but Disney dosen't do it for him.

But that's OK, after 30+ years together, I am used to it.

I'm really sad to hear about these reports about the grosvenor resort. We booked here for April 13 - April 20. We got the tower rooms.. Was your bad experience here??? We thought this place was a good one.... Now we are wondering if we made a mistake!!! Its our first time at Disney.:(

We stayed in a Tower Room about a year ago and were perfectly happy. I do think they are nicer rooms than the Wings.

We stayed at the Grosvenor last October and loved it! The rooms were nothing special, but also not horrible. The food, however, was outstanding (especially the breakfast with Goofy & Pluto), the location was wonderful (right across the street from DTD), and the service was incredible. Everyone was nice and very helpful (including the bartender at the outside bar by the pool.) Also, there were no transportation problems whatsoever. It is one of the last pickups on the DTD route, so it can get crowded. But we only had to stand once (coming back from Epcot after the fireworks). I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Especially at its price.
