Hi Everyone,
I will be in Orlando this November for a couple of days and will be staying in one of the hotels at Downtown Disney. I have not stayed there before and was hoping you could give me your opinion between two hotels. The Grosvener Resort or the Best Western.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

My DH and I got a great deal at the Grosvenor once on Expedia so we decided to try it and we thought it was horrible! Very old and shabby and not very clean. It was nice to be within walking distance to DTD, but we would never stay there again. I've never stayed at the Best Western. I hope the reviews for it are better!

It is interesting that this question would be here. The last time we were at WDW (summer) we decided to check out most of the hotels along 'Hotel Row' (Hotel Plaza Blvd.) for future reference, and we did see both Grosvenor and Best Western.

I have to agree with AladdinsPrincess: Grosvenor looked very shabby, run-down and did not look to have been upgraded in quite a while. The Best Western looked as though it just went through a major renovation.

I would check out www.tripadvisor.com to see if either one come up.

HTH.

When Disney was all booked up, my mother stayed at the LBV Best Western. While not a Disney resort, it was nice enough. The room was a good size, clean, and in good condition. I don't know about any of the resorts amenities, but if I couldn't get a room on property, the Best Western would be my next choice.

Stayed at Grosvenor and yes it was gross. Our room was run down and NOT what they had presented to us when we reserved it, it was not clean, the fridge was whacky, the items for sale by the pool were shockingly priced, everytime we went through lobby we were harassed by condo/ticket sales people. I found myself constantly saying "Disney would never allow this at their hotels". We stayed gone every minute possible (our relatives who were there with us even checked out early and left). I would never go back !!!!

Hi, Christine,

Did you try for a Disney Resort at or about the same price? Even the POP would be fuin for your two nights!!

As others have said the Grosvenor is a dump! It's pretty bad, so do stay clear!

Wow, I guess I'm in the minority, but we loved the Grosvenor! Our room was wonderful and very clean and nothing was outdated or worn. And, it was larger than our room at the Dolphin! The refrigerator worked fine and was an added plus.
We never approached by anyone in the lobby and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's the closest of "hotel row" resorts to DD and the location was perfect. Their restaurant, Baskervilles, has a terrific all-you-can-eat buffet and the menu changes nightly. We have also stayed at the Holiday Inn on hotel row. It was an "ok" hotel, but not nearly as nice. DH and I are planning another few days at the Grosvenor for our next trip - we stay about two weeks each trip and resort hop three times.

I really enjoyed the Best Western.. in fact when im back in town i usually go back to see how they've renovated it and say hello to "mama" who makes the omelets in the breakfast area.. i dont know if she's still there but she made the trip special... they also had a lounge on the top floor that you could watch the fireworks from. not to great of a pool area.. but id stay there again.

We stayed Grosvenor for one night in June 04 because i could not get an add on ap night at a WDW resort..... could have paid the same for a value disney property! well, let me say that the Grosvenor was disgusting!!! it was frayed, dirty and nasty!! no way I would ever stay there again unless I had no other options.

Should have stayed at a value... Can not imagine that any of the downtown properties can compare to a WDW property. Trust me, the bus service is in no way the same either. As they say, live and learn (I booked through Expedia... duh... no wonder..)

Please, Please, just stay in a WDW property. It will be clean, and the transportation can't be beat.

On our last trip we stayed at Hotel Royal Plaza and the Grosvenor. We we happy that our stay began at the Grosvenor, as the second hotel could only be an improvement. It was terrible!. Except for the close walk to DD, I can't think of one positive thing to say about it. HRP was wonderful.
