Booked at the Grosvenor hotel in May for 1 week . Is it ok? Good? Great? Can anyone give me a review on the hotel. Have a booking at the Dolphin but the cost savings at the Grosvenor are huge and most of our time will be spent with family staying at the Key West resort. Have to decide soon. Please help.

Stayed there five years ago. It's an older hotel. Don't know if they've done any renovations since we were there. Small pool (can't compare with the Dolphin). The rooms were fine. Bus service to the parks worked out well. We did choose to stay at the Dolphin this time however to avoid the crowded bus rides. However, you are going in May, we stayed there during VERY CROWDED Easter week. You should be fine. You can walk to the Downtown Disney shopping center and to PI.

We always stayed on site in a moderate, but last Nov. we planned a last minute trip. Everyone had discounts but Disney resorts. Grosvenor was $39 a nite for tower room! Couldn't pass it up! Was very afraid it would be horrible, but it was just fine! We were able to get LOS passes because it is considered a "Disney Resort". We really didn't use the transportation, we usually walked to DD and caught busses that way. Room was neat and very quiet... a necessity for me! You'll be fine, it is worth the savings once in a while. We will stay on site next time, because we did miss some "magic". But saving over $100/nite just couldn't be beat!

I stayed at the Grosvenor about 8 years ago. It wasn't bad...it was a nice hotel. But, I wanted to warn you about something. when I checked in, I owed money, so I wrote a check. The woman said she also needed an imprint of a credit card in case I made phone calls and didn't pay. I asked her if she was going to charge anything to the card and she said no, it was just in the event I skipped out on the bill. So, I give her the check and the credit card. I went to buy something the next day and the credit card was denied because there was a hold on the funds. I was 18 years old, it was my first and only credit card and the hotel charges maxed out my meek limit. So, now I couldn't use the money on the credit card and I couldn't use money in my checking account because the check was outstanding and I didn't want it to bounce.

There I am in Disney with no money. I borrowed from my parents. I go to check out and I'm told I can't because my room wasn't paid for!! I told them I paid them TWICE!! Apparently what had happened was the woman took my check and locked it in her locker and went on vacation. She also never put the charge through on the credit card, but the hold on the money was still there. They wouldn't let me leave until they got a locksmith and busted open her locker and got my check. I almost missed my flight home. They did get my a Tiffany Town Car to the airport to make up for my troubles, so they did care about the inconvenience.

I'm sure my experience was a freak accident, but just make sure you're all paid up before you check in!

We checked in in Aug 2000. Lobby was nice enough. Our room was horrible. The refrigerator had old food in it. The drawer front fell off when I tried to open the draw. The sink was being held up by the free standing room safe (that you could pick up and walk out with). There was a 2 inch gap under our outside door (bugs, geckos!). Our "Disney View" looked at the parking lot and the shrubs were way to tall to see DTD over?? We tried to call the front desk but our phone was broken too. We were registered for 10 nights...no way. DH went up to talk to the manager and he was given as really hard time about refunding our $$. We had paid by bank check 2 months in advance. He wanted to send us a check in 2 weeks....I don't think so. We preservered and got our refund...lucky for us DxL had rooms available.

We stayed one night in Nov 2001 due to a flight change (they were a very inexpensive option). I don't know if we got a bad room because we were staying cheaply, but I was glad we didn't have to stay any longer. (I wonder if we had Mickey7861's room, a year and a half later...)

The location seems about as convenient as any offsite; you could walk to the DD buses if the ones at the Grosvenor weren't frequent enough. The staff was very courteous, helping us with our luggage at all hours of the day and night.

I guess I'd stay again for a few nights, IF I got a great deal (I think we paid $39 bucks), but I wouldn't expect much.

I stayed at the Grosvenor in June 2001 as the result of a Priceline bid. My son & I enjoyed our stay. It's not the Grand Floridian, Beach Club...(you get my drift), but we both loved it. You can see my review and others at the Priceline bidding site (biddingfortravel.com). Hopefully the link below works. I know this hotel gets mixed reviews but I'd be willing to stay again.
