Gross...what IS this thing?!

I agree, looks alien to me. I think you should trap it and flush it. My favorite means of disposal for nasty critters. Of course if it were me, I would have called my dad and he would have come rushing over to protect me.

okey for my sanity .....are those southern bugs or do they migrate NORTH....if they do and I happen to see those suckers......I am moving out of this house.....FAST.....even if it is in the sixth generation of us to live here.....not my kind of favorite thing to see....
last year we had a Northeastern toe pincher in the back yard ...got into the bucket and my doggie was trying to attack it. Hubby tried to drown it...but those are water lovers......so he took a big brick and squished the thing.....those are HUGE and as big as my palm of my hand......I would of moved out if it had come in the house...

I live in PA, too. What does a toe-pincher look like? We have pinchers but they're real small.

Yikes!!!Keep a close on that thing so that your mom can kill it when she gets home. If she is anything like me, you will both be waiting until your dad gets home. ;)

Oooohhh!!! Whack it with a newspaper! :tiptoe:

Then let your parents clean up the remains when they get back!

I really need to ask the OP what ever possesed you to stop and photograph the damn thing. Just kill it alread :teeth:

My favorite bug-removal system is a handy little contraption known as the DustBuster. Worked great for tarantulas when I lived in TX. Of course, the screaming for Mom method worked much better.

Because I was/still am scared to death and I wanted some insight. Like I stated before, insects/spiders are the two things I am afraid of. And this thing is ugly. And scary. It's still sitting there.

Oh, my stars! I would have absolutely passed out from fright. No kidding. That is the most frightening thing I have ever seen.

Is there a neighbor that can help you kill it -- like with a broom -- something with a reallllly long handle?

I am such a baby about things like this -- and I am over 40 years young! I found a large roach in our office and called security to kill it. They did. :thumbsup2 Hey, I'm not proud.

Go get some backup, honey! That thing is horrific. Here's some pixie dust coming your way! pixiedust:

It's all done

The horror is finally over

My mom squished it. And then she threw the paper towel at me.

Why oh why did I open this thread???! :scared1: :faint:

That is the most hideous thing I've ever seen - so glad we don't find them here in the UK... at least I reeaaallly hope not! :scared: Glad you got it sorted.

:scared1: That's worse than Pumba's bug!

 :faint: :crazy2:

I seriously still have chills from loking at that! I dont know what posessedm e to open this thread!

Run far far away from it!

Eww gross, totally sick. I would've been out of the house and somewhere else.

Oh my goodness!! I recognize that bug anywhere!! I seen them many times over the years! Most recently, I found three of them in a nursery that I work at, and it's in the basement of the building. And like another wrote, the bugs stayed against the wall, and I only noticed two of them when I picked up some toys against the wall and they were under them! :faint: They are so UGLY, so hairy, so big, and so fast!!! Never knew if they had an official name or not! :scared:

This is a really disgusting little creature called a "house centipede". Yes, squishing it will kill it easily... IF you can catch the little bugger! They run really really fast. They like low, damp areas such as basements, and tend to stick to the area of the floor nearest to the wall or furniture. No amount or type of chemical will kill these guys!! You need to set up glue traps in all the corners of every room in your house, quick, before they multiply. I had these in my basement and we tried everything to get rid of them. We bug bombed the basement after seeing about 3 of them, and though it didn't kill them, it did help to chase them out - there were probably 50 that were suddenly chased through the walls into the upper floors of the house! It was SO GROSS, it was like a bad sci-fi movie!! They remind me of the huge bugs in "Starship Troopers" (only a little smaller). You need to tell your parents as soon as they get home so they can get rid of them.

OMG! Stop! You're scary the bejeezies out of me! They aren't in New Jersey are they? We have 3 foot mosquitoes, we don't need these thing too!

We get them once in a while. One was in the bathroom and I Clorox Cleaned Up it to death. Another time there was one in the kitchen sink in the middle of the night. I flushed it down the drain but the next morning it had crawled back up! EWWw I hate hate them.

Why? Would you like one? I can pack one up in a little jar and bring it to you.
