Meeting Groot is a must-do for my crew! Any strategy to ensure we get to meet him? Has anyone met him? How did it work?

Get in his line before or when the dance party starts. He comes out at the end of the dance party and dances for a bit, and then they do the official meet and greet with people in the line.

The line is marked off on the pavement with green tape, so you know where to line up. If you get there first you can still see most of the dance-off (or just see the dance-off another performance).

Update: today he didn't come and dance at the 9:45 show; he came out almost 10 minutes after the dance party ended. People were still in line when it started, though, and he did show up eventually.

Yes, be early, we spotted him and went to join the line, the cast member said an hour and a half, we took a selfie with him in the background...

Also, if you want Groot bread, go first thing...

Maybe the park was just not crowded today, but we happened to notice Groot in the morning so we walked up and did the meet and greet, with about a 10 minute wait. The same for Gamora in the evening. No strategy was needed. The cast member did say that the lines for Guardians were the shortest she had ever seen, so maybe more people were at Disneyland today.

I didn't know Gamora had a meet & greet! I just thought she had the dance off. That makes me super excited! :) Thanks for sharing!

If it was the Groot set following the 9:45 dance-off, a lot of people were confused when he didn't come out and dance, so they just left. I'm not sure if that's how it always is now, but I'm sure it cut down the line because a bunch of people were like, "oh, I guess Groot isn't here after all, bummer," and just walked away. As you mentioned, it was also quite uncrowded yesterday at DCA at least.

I think it's new-ish and possibly inconsistent; it's not in the promotional materials (which made a big deal out of the "encounters" with the other superheroes) and we hadn't seen her on the character list until yesterday. She had late afternoon sets listed (so did Hawkeye, who I hadn't seen with official meet and greets before).

Does anyone have any info on how long the GotG gang is going to be hanging out in DCA? My trip isn't until November but I am dying to meet them!

It's supposed to be the "Summer of Superheros" so it may not last much past Labor Day. But then again, they will probably be announcing Marvel Land this month, so may want to continue some sort of promotion.

Basically, I wouldn't get your hopes up you will be able to meet them in November. If they are available, it will be a nice extra though.

Interesting about Gamora and Hawkeye popping up in the app now!

I just wanted to chime in and say that when my family got in line to meet Groot earlier this month the CMs told the group in front of us that it was a 30-45 minutes wait. There were about 5-6 groups in front of us. I doubt we waited 10 minutes. You can see the whole line so make sure and take a look for yourself about the wait time before you leave. I bet this was a one-time thing - usually I find CMs to be very close to the actual wait time -and I totally get giving people a longer time to not "promise" a quick time - you just never know if a group will take a really long time. But this estimate was way, way off.

This is a really fun meet and greet - definitely worth making time for!

Note that, if you're in line when Groot leaves the M&G right before the dance party, you are going to be waiting a while for him to return.

I didn't know anything about a dance party. I just saw a short line for Groot outside the exit for Guardians. It is sort of an out of the way corner of the park unless you are looking for it. Gamora was in front of the Guardians sign in the evening. Another cast member had told us that morning that she heard a "rumor" that Gamora would be there. Otherwise we would not have known.
