Grooms Cake????

Maybe I am living in a bubble, but what is a groom's cake? When is it served?

A groom's cake is sometimes served at the reception for guests to take home, but its more common now for it to be served at the rehearsal dinner.

I ordered one from the GF Cafe' to be delivered to Boma for our "rehearsal" dinner. My fiance is really into gardening so they are designing one to fit his interests.

You live in NY. I grew up in Ohio. I never heard of a groom's cake until I moved to TN. It's a southern tradition. It's usually red velvet cake, too. But, most people do some kind of cake with chocolate icing. It's usually whimsical and fun. If your groom likes darts, then you can do a dart board. If he likes hunting, you can do camoflauge, etc. A lot of them seem car or golf related for some reason

I'm from NY and never heard of a groom's cake until I came here. I didn't think we'd have one, but it might be fun to surprise him with one at the welcome party or something. So I searched for airplane cakes, since flying is his passion, but didn't find anything I love. I do really like that heart that's decorated like a tux!

I asked all my friends and they have never heard of a groom's cake - again, we are all NY born and raised so there ya go!

Thanks for the info! I think I would like to get one for my fiance! He loves wrestling and especially Hulk Hogan so maybe I will do something like that for him... I just like cake!!

I grew up in Ohio too! I actually looked into a Buckeye Cake, (fyi - buckeyes are what most refer to as chocolate covered peanut butter balls!) But, did not find anything!

To everyone else:

The only reason I knew what a groom's cake was was because of the Bleedin' Armadillo on Steel Magnolias! So do not feel bad!

I am copying off of Fairy_Tale_Bride and getting a Mickey cake from the Boardwalk Bakery. I seem to be copying her exact wedding almost, same location, same photo shoot, same cake.......so huge shout out to Fairy_Tale_Bride you have GREAT TASTE! i promise I did not intend on mirroring your wedding! lol!
