We'll have a rental car and I understand there's an area with a Costco, Target and Wal-Mart. We're not Costco members (not located near us) nor do we want anything in bulk (just two adults) and I understand that Target and Wal-Mart are not superstores. Any true grocery stores in the same vicinity? We'll be looking to pick up things like milk, OJ, case of water, fresh bakery items, etc. Not a lot, but I'm can't picture non-superstores having a bakery area.

Thanks!

There is a Safeway in Kapolei and it isnt too bad but I actually got most of my supplies at Target because a lot of the products we needed happened to be on sale. For example, a dozen large white eggs were on for $1.99 but at Safeway they were almost double that. Also the target brand sliced white bread for toast was $1.99 for a loaf and all the other breads on the shelf were $3 plus on up to over $5. They had lunchables on sale for $1 which I dont normally get for my kids but since we were on vacation I bought the nachos one and it traveled well in an insulated bag for a North Shore beach day. Even the meat wasnt a bad price. Produce was not that great but really neither was the stuff at Safeway. The Marriott Ko Olina Beach resort has a farmers market on Tuesdays, not as cheap as true markets but certainly as fresh and very local-great for you produce. Also they sold gigantic cinnamon buns which I didnt try as not my fav but they sure smelled amazing!

We were able to find everything we needed at the Target. I thought they had a lot of groceries available + an aisle dedicated to booze & wine & coolers full of beer with good prices. Unless you are looking for something completely random & unusual I think you'd be able to find it at Target. No, they don't have a bakery and I'm not sure what kind of bakery items you're looking for…but you could certainly find some sort of pastries or donuts. We got pre-sliced bagels & cream cheese and frozen waffles & syrup etc. If they don't have what you want then I'm sure a quick stop at the Safeway would finish off your list.
