You're asking if I behave or respond a certain way "just when [my] positions don't really hold up?" - but I don't recall having a position. I'm simply asking you to locate the/any post where I've indicated a position. Or please stop making unsupported assumptions and accusations.
So basically, you only are willing to follow rules if they are strictly enforced. You refuse to follow the wishes of the store unless not doing so would result in your expulsion. You will not go through a staffed 'less than 20 line' with more groceries because the cashier might toss you, but you would have no problem going through the self-scan 'less than 20' lane with more groceries because that 'rule' wouldn't be strictly enforced by the store.
I wonder if your position on the parking issue would change if the same store chose to tow your car for parking in a space that was reserved for other people, which of course would be their right.
Rudeness is never a good answer to rudeness, in my opinion.
Is it a pet peave of yours when others don't find your irritant to be a big deal?
You have an unusual definition of rudeness. Have a nice day!
No. But you can take as fact that I'm the Making Fun of Typos Poster.I didn't ascribe a position on the great less/fewer debate to you. I was referring to your strange position that it is OK for you to be peeved about some tiny thing, but not OK for others to comment on it. Based on your position that you didn't have a position, can we just assume that you take the 'always the spelling police' option?
No. But you can take as fact that I'm the Making Fun of Typos Poster.
It's my tag.
Passive-aggressive, maybe. Rude, no. 1001Ghosts was simply taking advantage of an unusual situation to allow her child to practice counting skills. She could have done it in any cash register line (although it'd probably be harder to view all the items in an unlimited line).I have to agree with the PP. I didn't think it was all that cute or funny. Kind of rude actually.
Let's point out what the other shopper is doing wrong and shame her! Great lesson to teach your kid.
I forget. If there were a history of when we made account changes, it might jog my memory. There was a thread a few months ago with some really funny typos or auto"correct" edits. Not spelling mistakes, it was a big part of the conversation. Some typos and "corrections" are hilarious. Why would you want to do that?![]()

Rude is going to a cash register with an item limit, with substantially more items than that number.

Both are rude. Being passive aggressive can be rude.
God people, it's a freekin pet peeve thread.
I would have been giggling right behind you as your daughter was counting. I find it very amusing. You have an unusual definition of rudeness. Have a nice day!
kaytieeldr said:No, I don't care that people don't agree on irritants. I do care that people choose to make fun of others for what the others find irritating.

However, embarrassing another patron is the very epitome of rudeness. While your daughter was cute in counting, the intention was very rude.
However, as I said, I would have secretly loved it.
Wow. I ask for clarification, and you call it making fun?yet its ok for YOU to make fun of someone just because they spelled something incorrectly? Amazing!

This thread is about pet peeves, so the word peeve appears multiple times.
Autocorrect changes anything even close, to peeve.
If I don't know what a word means, I look it up. This word got no results - so I asked the person who used it.
Why? How do you garner new information?
No, peave could be a word I don't know. If it is, I'd like to know it, if for no other reason than for use in Scrabble and similar games. A typo(graphical error) generally occurs when the letters are adjacent to each other. Sometimes they're unintentionally funny - and that's the reason for my tag. "Peave" appeared to be neither a typo nor a misspelling so in an attempt to expand my knowledge when I couldn't find the information elsewhere, I asked the person who posted it.Oh you did not. Someone had a typo of peave or something and you purposely acted dumb asking them what it meant when it was obviously a typo. For some odd reason you get off making people feel stupid for an innocent type.
