We are staying at the Holiday Inn on Walnut for our upcoming January vacation. I'd like to stop and get a bit of groceries on my way up from Long Beach. Just some breakfast type stuff and snacks, drinks. I'd prefer an actual grocery store to a 7-Eleven store.

Any suggestions for a decent grocery store in the general area ?

vons and albertsons delivers maybe you could look in to that its what we are doing. i dont have all info but there websites should or soem one here

Like Jade said, Vons and Albertsons! We haven't been to A, but V wasn't far away at all (unless you get turned around like my hubby did, yikes).

editing to add!

I assume you're from Canada, and I know that there are Safeways in Canada. Vons = Safeway, so if you have a Club Card it should work at Vons too.

Nope, no Safeway in my area. I will have a car and prefer to run over to the store instead of having it delivered. There's so much cool stuff in US grocery stores that we don't have in Canada !!

Are these big supermarket type stores ?

Yes, and you can find them online and see many of the items they carry. The web addresses are easy enough to figure out. The Zip Code to type in for the store location is 92801.

One thing also if you want to... Supermarkets like Albertsons and Vons deliver in CA. So you could have them deliver to your hotel instead.

There's also a Walmart nearby, but I can't remember how many grocery type food things they had. Anyone?

So which is better, the Albertson's or the Vons? If I had to choose here I would shop Albertsons over Safeway because Safeway here is so much more expensive. Is that true there? :confused3

There is also a Target store in Garden Grove, which is not far from Disneyland, they too, sell groceries. Target is geared towards value conscious shoppers.
I love Target! I wonder if there are Target stores in Canada? I would hope so. :)

Target sells groceries ?!! Is it kind of like a SuperWalmart ? The whole ice cream aisle and everything ??

(My favorite place in a SuperWalmart is the ice cream aisle !!!):worship:

Nope, no Target up here in Canada. I drive down to Platsburgh, NY or Burlington VT when I need my US shopping fix.

I assume Target would be a good place for souvenirs ? The local Walmart near WDW has lots of lesser priced Disney items...

Yep that target does sell ice cream, well it did 2 years ago. Though the selection isn't going to be like at a super walmart. We only shopped at that target when we were there and you would of thought it was the first time I had seen one :rotfl: I just remember thinking how huge it was for it not being a super target (which they do have but they are few and far between). Target gets my vote unless you want to have them delivered :)

I totally understand that feeling. Whenever we go to BC (3 hours north) we gawk at all the weird stuff in the supermarket...particularly chip flavors - Canada has the best potato chip selection.

You would definitely miss out on this aspect by having stuff delivered.

Seems like they're pretty close, ummmm.... let's see...

Vons is close, too:
There's an even closer Von's here (2.3 miles). Alternatively you can try Ralph's here (2.9 miles but easier directions). On the way to the latter you'll pass by a Food 4 Less store - I wouldn't recommend it. :rolleyes1

wow that vons isnt far is vons a normal grochy store. like if you go in it is it like a safeway or soemthing?
were talking about having him go there and get food and then take taxi back to hojos. dose any one have hojos addy so we can type it in and see where it is from vons?

Vons is Safeways sister grocery store, it is in Southern California, to where Safeway, you will find in Northern California.

There are Super Target stores in Southern California, however unfortunately not close to Disneyland. The regular Target stores, are still quite large all the same. I love their sales, and pricing in general, and their $1 and $2.50 section, some of my best purchases actually have come from there, for example, Tinkerbell socks, $1.00 and they last just as long as socks that I have paid far more for. This purchase is in my area, I have shopped at Target in Garden Grove, not this year, but last, and enjoyed my Target shopping experience all the same. :)

ty for hojos addy i was gona do mapquest from hojo to vons dh could walk there almost he thinks and then take cab back cheaper then ordering since we dont need much and might be able to use stuff that we couldnt by ordering online lol
