I noticed 2 things at the store I never noticed before.

1. The bakery dept sells colored icing in deli type plastic containers. Huh, do they normally do this or did they just make too much for the holiday?

2. Pickles now come in little plastic snack size containers like jello, pudding & fruit does. I don't know about this one. That's still a lot of pickles. lol

I've seen the icing before around the holidays, so you can make cookies and let the kids frost them or whatever. Haven't seen the pickles before, but I've been noticing a lot of different foods prepackaged in lunchbox-sized containers lately. Kinda spendy usually, for what you actually get, but I think it's a pretty neat idea other than that. I especially like Trader Joe's sliced apples in little lunchbox size packages. I used to buy those for my kids a lot when I lived near a TJ. Our little local grocery chain is carrying cottage cheese in small containers like kid-size yogurts. I like that idea a lot.

My local Wal-Mart had bite size jello snacks in a bag located in the fridge section. They were about the size of lego's. :confused3

I bought some of the 4-pack pickles so I could take them to work for lunch. A whole jar would probably go to waste as no one would touch them after the jar was opened.

Wouldn't know - I haven't been to the grocery store in almost 2 years...:woohoo: :lmao:

One day DH complained one time too many about how much money I spent at the grocery store.........:thumbsup2

OMG, my dad took over the shopping for a while when I was younger because he complained too. He used to buy soooooo many eggs because they were cheap. I've never eaten so many eggs in all my life. I was much happier when my mother took over again.

I notice something new every few days. It's amazing some of the products they come up with, and some I have to seriously wonder about. Like $20 for liquid creme brulee mix? I never saw anyone buy it.

I love the snack sized pickles. I discovered them last summer when I was looking for easy items for picnics. They are perfect.

I am always tempted to do this when my dh complains, he always looks at the bags and says "you spent $$ and thats all you got??" grrrrrrrrrr.....

Yup - He keeps trying to give me that chore back and I keep telling him he is doing a WONDERFUL job with the shopping and it would be stupid to give it back to me considering he thought I didn't do it right for 10 years. :lmao:

Long ago I worked in a grocery deli for 2 weeks.....the frosting/icing came in 5 gallon buckets. Maybe less people are ordering decorated cakes so they are trying to recoup the cost of the buckets of frosting.
Ours now sells the garlic butter spread they use on the italian bread in the 1/2 lb deli containers.

I think the individually wrapped prunes are a hoot.

I find it strange that the one store in the ethnic aisle has the old 16 oz. glass bottles of Coca Cola that they sell individually. So I guess if you're hispanic coke tastes different in these bottles and is worth the extra money?

What I think is absolutely hilarious about the individually wrapped prunes is the commercial. The one woman says 'my kids will think they are candy' :lmao: Um, I don't think so. Especially if they eat several at one sitting. :lmao:

From what I understand, it does. What I heard was Coke in Mexico is still made with sugar instead of HFCS, like it was back before Coke tried messing with the formula and brought out the New Coke. I've been wanting to try Coke from Mexico to see if it does have that "twang" that Coke did when I was young.

But that's just something I read on the internet once so who knows if it's true

In Europe Coke is definitely made with sugar and WITHOUT HFCS. A friend of mine travels to Europe (specifically the Netherlands) at least once per year and is always thrilled because she can have regular coke and not diet. She's allergic to corn and can't have HCFS, so she has to drink diet back here.
