Does this make any sense:

Will be driving Peterborough area to BUF Dec 17. We will arrive in BUF early afternoon. Our flight doesn't go out until the next am.

I thought maybe I would stop at a grocery store near the BUF airport instead of waiting until MCO. We will be a standard room at ASMo (without a fridge) so I don't need to pick up much, just some cereal, bread, peanut butter, fruit and snacks. I thought why waste anytime in MCO, why not get it in BUF and then pack it into a suitcase. And to tell you the truth, once we arrive in MCO we will be so excited about going to WDW, I won't be able to concentrate at a grocery store.

What do you think?

Does anyone know of a grocery store near the BUF airport????

The Walden Galleria mall is close to the airport but I am having a hard time remebering if I have seen a grocery store near there. I f you are just going to shop there and pack it I say shop at home and pack it. Cheaper.

hockeymom, thanks for the tip. Your're right. I can simply buy what we need the day before we leave home. Can I take bread from Canada to the US though? I think I will be ok with everything else (box of cereal, fruit to gos, canned peaches/pear, sm. boxes of raisins, juice boxes, peanut butter, jam, margarine). The only thing I would have to pick up in the US (preferably somewhere near BUF)would be fruit (since I can't take that over the border, can I)?

We live 5 minutes from the Buffalo airport and I can certainly help you out here. There is a Wegman's (large local supermarket) on Dick Road approx. 1/2 mile I would say from the airport. The airport is situated on the corners of Dick Rd/Genesee St. You would make a left turn on Dick Road off Genesee coming from the airport. There is also a Tops Market on Union Road about a mile or so (maybe 1-1/2 miles--not good with that stuff). You would take Genesee Street from the airport towards Union and make a left turn. It's on the left side of Union in a small Plaza. You can't miss it. I would say the Wegman's is your better choice. Tops is just about a block from the Walden Galleria. There is also another larger Wegman's on Walden Avenue. If you are getting off the I90, get off at Walden Avenue. It's on the right side of the street once you get off the exit. The Galleria Mall is directly across the street next to the Four Points Sheraton Hotel.

If you need any other help or directions, PM me. I'd be glad to help out. Have a great trip.

I don't think a few apples in a grocery bag are going to cause any problems at the border. I'd wonder about juice boxes., though The baggage area of airplanes aren't pressurized, and I'd be concerned about the vacuum packed juice boxes exploding.
And if it were me, I'd pack the food in a cardboard box, rather than a suitcase.

Thanks for the info. everybody

I will try and find the Wegmans on Dick Rd. We will be staying at the Comfort Suites which is located at 901 Dick Rd. Any idea how close the Wegmans is to this?

Thanks again,
Suzy V.

You would be just "seconds" literally! I was going to PM and ask you were you were staying. I can't recall which side of the street the hotel is one off the top of my head, but just ask the desk which way to turn on Dick Road. I'm think you'd be making a left but I'd double check. It's just up the street maybe 2-3 very short blocks (less than 1/4 mile). It will be on your left side of the street set back a little bit. You honestly cannot miss it and it couldn't be any closer. It's a "chain" supermarket so they should have absolutely everything you need to get. Glad I could help. Let me know if you think of anything else!

Michele, I pm'ed you about this a while ago, please ignore that pm. Thanks for all the info. I think this will be the best option for me. I know that doing a grocery stop in MCO will be difficult, we will be excited about getting to ASMo, I wouldn't even be able to concentrate.
Buying the groceries in BUF just makes more sense for me.

Thanks again everybody for the all the tips.

are you serious?take the time and get it when you hit mco.you are going on a vacation , aren't you?

You can't take fruit or meats across the border.

I would actually wait until you get to Orlando to get your stuff. Then you have an excuse to go to the Orlando Premier Outlet Mall to get your souvies cheaper than in the parks!

There is a Publix right across the street from the mall, and you would be getting rid or two things at once!
