grocery stop and early check-in

This one question is really nagging at me. We will be checking in 6/15 at about 11:00 am to OKW. Since there are 8 of us for a 10 day stay we will be using a grocery stop. Am I safe buying milk , lunch meats and such? I'm sure our room will not be ready and am wondering how they keep the cold things cold. Thank you all. Julie

No worries

If you're room isn't ready (which it may be as OKW uses "room ready" for check-in's) they have refrideration for you in the storage room for your groceries.

Can they also do this at SSR? I never even thought about this potential problem - we are checking in at noon with groceries. I knew we'd be storing our luggage for a while, but I hadn't even thought about our food!! Thanks for the reminder!

Whether they have refrigeration or not I'd wait on that. Could you imagine evryone's groceries being stored. There is bound to be some type of mix up. How much storage do they have anyway? I'd wait until you are in your room and send one person with a list to shop. I wouldn't want a grocery mishap getting my trip off on a bad note. Have a great trip.

We've been doing this same thing for 10 years. No mix ups, no spoilage. DVC and Disney are way on top of this. Usually, we are able to get into our room prior to 4:00 pm, which helps from having any mix ups, spoilage, etc.

Go, do it and enjoy. We like Publix. Ask for a temporary store card or a driver may have one.

The other option is www.wegoshop.com . You send them a list and the store you prefer, and they do the shopping for a very nominal charge -- probably less than the extra cab fare you'd pay for the stop, plus you don't lose the time. Also, with a 10-day stay, you may need to shop more than once.

Their fees are a minimum of $15, up to $30 for orders up to $300. Over $300, it's 12% of the order. They do not mark up the groceries; the fee is all you pay for their service.

Pretty reasonable price to pay for the convenience. Their website also has a very good frequently asked questions section which will answer just about any question you can think of.

Lots of folks have used them and swear by them.

Check both to be sure...but my gut reaction is "OH YEAH!"

With wegoshop, you're paying the regular grocery store prices (and I think they will also shop at Costco/Sam's Club, etc if you're a member of one of those) plus a small fee.

I can't imagine Disney being competitive, but check both to be sure.

Definetly!
Unless things have changed...yes Disney will stock your room with groceries BUT the list they give you is of things they can get right at the general stores at the resorts and quite limited. Not to mention overpriced We looked into getting the groceries from Disney a few yrs back and they faxed me a 1page list of things from the Conch Flats store at OKW. The only real convenience to it IMO is that rather than going to the resort's store yourself, they are having the items ready and waiting in your villa. With this wegoshop deal OTOH, they will shop at whatever store you wish, get whichever brands you want and can get alot of things the general store at the resort won't carry or offer.
So unless Disney is now shopping off sight at a regular grocery store...the wegoshop thing is definetly better
