Grocery Shopping

try mycoupons.com
their shopping boards are great
I have gotten so many deals
free groceries and cheap cheap stuff

Look for Buy 1 Get 1 Free sales. BiLo, here in TN, doesn't require that you get two, so you are basically charged 1/2 price for these items. A coupon makes it even better.

I go to the Bi-Lo here when they have sale on something good. Other wise I found them to most expensive store here.

I shop at WalMart Supercenter for my groceries and pricematch (although I can't with BiLo's B1G1F things b/c they don't put the price in the paper) I have found WalMart to be cheaper than any other store.

Yes Wal-Mart is the cheapest store here if won name brand stuff at a cheap price. Another store here Chattanooga that has good prices is the Save-O-Lot store in East Ridge. They have some excellent prices on meat and canned goods

Look around for food co-ops. My church just became involved in something called Angel Food Ministries. Basically for $25 you get a box of food once a month valued at around $70. We were very pleased with what we received last month. The food varies from month to month.

Lori P. I see found the best kept secert in Chattanooga. I loved Angel Food Ministires. I don't have buy meat for a month because they give so much. Do know what give out last month. I did not get the check in time.

Try to find bread outlets. We had one close to my house and I would get loaves of bread for about $.35, but they closed it. I hate paying $1.00 for a loaf of bread b/c my family can go through bread so quickly.

I hate when the bakery close here Chattanooga because Iused love going there to buy cakes, bread and other goodies that you can't found in a grocery store.

Last month, we received two bags of coated chicken for frying, a smoked sausage, two packs of chicken tenders, hamburger steaks, 4 thin steaks, a bag of frozen green beans, a bag of potato wedges (delicious!), head of lettuce, dozen eggs, two bags of skillet meals (meat included), bag of stir fry veggies, a peach pie and a box of biscuit mix. (I think that's all)

In addition to what others have suggested, make homemade food to stock in your freezer so that you don't buy frozen prepared foods that are really expensive. Have food that you've made from scratch in the freezer and ready to go so that you don't resort to a frozen pizza when you're busy.

Make homemade snack foods, too. Snack foods are terribly expensive. I just made homemade cereal bars (like Nutra Grain bars) the other day that taste better and are healthier for a much lower price.

Reember lower cost alternatives...

Ie make your own cream soups for recipes, your own mix for salad dressings, your own bisquick

I have to second the Tightwad Gazeette books. I get them from the library.. and they are wonderful.

I remember even getting Amy Decyzyn newsletter when it came out.. many many years ago.

I'm not as frugal as I used to be, but I still am lower. I do about $60-70 per week for a family of four. I used to go lower about $40-50 a week, but my kids are getting bigger and eating more.

don't be too proud to shop Aldi's.

Up until a couple years ago, I would have never thought to go to an Aldi's for groceries. But, I have found it really is a great way to save. Some of their brands are On Cor and Del Monte with just the Aldi label on them. I know this because when they first changed over, I questioned those items on my receipt and was told these are the manufacturer.

We go through a lot of canned vegetables at my house. With the daycare, I'm required to serve at least 2 fruits/vegetables at every meal. At .29 for a can a vegetables, it helps a lot. I will say their packaging is not the same at the name brand -- the cans are thinner but I have never had a problem. I also prefer their waffles over Eggo waffles -- they are less greasy. And, a lot of the items are less salty. Another benefit. And, I save on bunch buying their 100% apple juice.

Aldi's, at times, also has special buys on toys which are a good price. After Christmas, they had the George Forman Playdoh grills on sale for $4.99 each. A bargain I couldn't pass up.

We also go to Sam's on Saturday AM's, during the business members early hours. They have a lot of meat during this time marked down "for quick sale". Sometimes, we will get 8 pounds of ground beef 90% lean for $7.00 or so. A big savings.
