For those who have visited HH, where is there a supermarket to go grocery shopping?

Thanks

There is a piggly Wigly I have been told at the Plaza at Shelter cove which is nearby.
We will be there for turkey day.

There are a couple of supermarkets on the Island along with a Walmart and every other chain store. It is sometimes difficult to find places because of the restrictions on sign size and all the beautiful oaks along the main road.

Piggly Wiggly is about 1/2 mile from the resort. If you make a left on the main road when leaving the resort it will be 1/2 mile on the left. If you go another 2 miles or so you will see the Walmart on the left. There is a bigger supermarket in that complex( I can't remember it's name). You will really have to watch for the store and even the resort because it's sign is also small.

I think there is a publix a couple of miles from the resort, but the piggly wiggly is most convenient

A lot of Piggly Wiggly low prices are available if you have a frequent shopper's card but you will be charged a higher price if you do not have the card. Do not sweat. Just ask them for a vacation card and they will gladly give you one. I got one two years ago and it is still good.

Enjoy.

Piggly Wiggly is very close. There is a Publix right at the Sea Pines Circle as well as one by the regular WM. Also a Bi Lo between the two circles and another PW at Coligny Plaza. Foodlion is on the road to the toll road, turn right at Sea Pines circle coming frow DVC. Super Wal Mart is near the interstate. Stop on the way to the island if you want, otherwise, ignore it.

And not to forget anyone, there is a Harris Teeter just past the Sea Pines circle on the way into the plantation (accross from the new Publix) and a Winn Dixie near the Library but a ways back toward the bridge off the island.

Confused yet? In general, I'd buy full groceries at Publix or Harris Teeter and use the PW for quick items. The Bi Lo did have some pretty good selection on certain items but overall I didn't like it as well.

Just back from spending Turkey day at HH. We went to Piggly Wiggly again. Once you leave the gate at Shelter Cove turn left past the mall and you will see a TJ Maxx that is where Piggly Wiggly is

If you shop at Piggly Wiggly's, when you get to the checkout counter ask for paper bags, not plastic. They have paper bags that can be cut out and made into school book covers. My kids are a hit at their school. They are the only ones in school with Piggly Wiggly school book covers!!! :p

We liked Harris Teeter! Had never heard of it, so we thought we would try it - very nice and helpful people, and their own products have money-back guaranties!

Harris-Teeter is the nicest of all the stores. The PW is not really nice just a novalty for people not from South Carolina and where ever they might have locations. IF you don't have a HT card the cashier will use there personal card for you. At HT they should have a live sushi chef there and you can get fresh sushi for take out. I could never eat though.

We got very good sea bass and shrimp from the Publix supermarket. The Piggly Wiggly has a wonderful bakery though. Every store we visited was very clean though.

We also bought seafood at Barnacle Bill's which is past Piggly Wiggly a few miles on the same side. It is a small shack that has decent prices and fresh seafood.
