Grocery Shopping around SSR

Hi everyone :wave2:
I have a silly question but am hoping someone has a clue. I am staying at SSR in late September and have decided because it's free to use DME to ge to SSR from MCO, but what I'm curious about is how close to DTD is the nearest grocery store so I can stock up on my arrival day. I understand that a taxi is always a consideration, but I thought I read somewhere that its only a couple of blocks from DTD is it too far of a walk? I know its silly, but if I can walk from SSR to DTD and then another block or so to the grocery store I might prefer that after a long day of sitting on an airplane. Or is it just too far away and it would be ridiculous to try and walk there? I would have a stroller to help bring the gorcery bags back with. And I wouldn't be alone others would be there to carry bags. I realize that this is a really silly question but I want to maximize every dollar I can! :rotfl:

There is a Winn Dixie at 11957 S Apopka Vineland Rd Orlando, FL 32836-7025

Here is a map to it. It is pretty close.

We're doing the same thing in August. I'm planning on walking to Goodings, and then taking a cab back to SSR. Seemed like a good compromise. And it will be hot in August and I don't want things like Milk to spoil on the walk back.

Just to forewarn you...last week we shopped at the Goodings near DTD (I'm assuming this is the one you're referring to) and it's pretty expensive - I found that the prices were almost double what I would normally pay (at home here in Maine or at the Publix we normally shop at Kissimmee when we stay off-site). This may not make any difference to you but just thought I would let you know ahead of time!!

IMO it seems like in the August heat & humidity it could be a miserable walk from DTD to Goodings but I suppose it can't be any worse than walking in the parks all day!!

We too are using ME so no car this trip. WE have deceided to use wegoshop. com. this is shopping service that you put your grocery order with, they will get everything you need and also shop where you want them to shop (for us we use walmart) tell them what time you want your groceries delivered they will deliver right to your resort. Now that is the way to go on vacation!!
The fee was quite small, about $15 for our order.
I looked at the Goodings site to shop at but they were very limited in the choices and the prices were very high!
