Grocery question

We are thinking of ordering a few groceries directly from Disney to be delivered when we arrive. We are also looking at gardengrocer, etc. One question that would determine which one, is.... can one order alcohol from Disney - we aren't HUGE drinkers (:cool1: ) but having a cold beer or nice glass of wine would be great. The alcohol isn't on the order sheets - how does one order it? Lastly, if we can't order it for delivery, is there any place on site to get beer/wine to bring back to our villa (we won't have a car). Thanks!!

You can buy alcohol via the grocers at each of the DVC resorts. We do.

Yes, I am sure someone will chime in to say that they don't have good prices. However, if you don't want to pay for delivery charges or get in a rental car, the grocer prices aren't that bad compared to resort prices we've paid elsewhere.

Heck, we're from Canada. With our stupid taxes, the alcohol prices in DVC resorts are the same as what we pack back at home from liquor stores!

FWIW, I'm sorry I can't answer your alcohol questions, but we did use Garden Grocer on our last trip. We were VERY pleased with them, and I'd definitely order from again.

I did check their site, and there's nothing posted regarding alcohol delivery and whether they do or do not.

Garden grocer delivered alcohol the last time we used them. It just gets added in the comment section when you place your order. My daughter in law is taking care of the whole garden grocer list for this October's trip.

Thanks Disney Villain - we too are from Canada and absolutely thought the same thing re: alcohol!! We just want something easy for this trip with not too much organization.

I'd like to know more about garden grocer and wegoshop. How does that stuff get delivered? Do you have to wait for them?

Can you fill me in on "Hess"? We are staying at BWV. thanks.

Just got back from AKV and SSR and beer was $5 and up a bottle. We didn't get any wine but did have a small bottle of Armarula which was about $16. I think you can get beer at the Hess station near BWV but can't say how much it would be.

It's a gas station across the street from the Boardwalk entrance. They have a convenience store that sells beer, wine, snack items at a reasonable price. There is also one across from Downtown Disney and one at the car care center (but that one is not accessible by walking). I have stopped there for bottled water, about the same as a grocery store.

I have not used GG. But I've had great service from http://wegoshop.com You let Marge know when you want your delivery. Marge brings it to your room. I like getting my groceries delivered to me in my room so I can put them away and be done with it.

We have used GG twice...the deliver to Bell Services if you are not there - everything that is cold is one well marked bags and Bell Services puts it in a fridge for you. When we get our room assignment we call them to bring our items up...

It worked very smoothly for us.

:goodvibes

I used Garden Grocer our last trip because the thought of bringing baby food and diapers and all that stuff gave me hives so we ordered through garden grocer and it was a dream.

My DH says we will use them again and I will definately be having beer delivered next trip since we will be in our first Villa.

Bell Services brought our stuff when we were ready for it.

We are planning on using gardengrocer and want to know when is the best time to order. We are leaving from California on a Thursday morning and arriving probably in the late afternoon in FL. Did you order the day before or that morning?

I ordered a month before hand. Order asap.
You pick a date, then a time that is available.
Bell services brings it up and they do deliver alcohol.

Also, for the Hess question - Hess is VERY reasonable!
It's worth the walk!

$5 per bottle of beer - is this a supersize beer?? :confused3 That's the same you pay in a restaurant! I think Hess station may be the way to go. So for a normal 330mL bottle, it is $5 or is that for a 6-pack? Hey, I don't need premium - a cold Coor's Light will do! Canadian taxes on booze are high but we can get a 24 of beer between $30-$40. Anyhow, thanks for all your input!

Wow! I didn't know you could order that far ahead. Excellent news! I can't wait to get started!
