I need grocery delivery for our trip in Dec. My problem is I think that garden grocer is very expensive. I am not sure exactly how to use WEGOSHOP. Basically I want to purchase breakfast foods, coke, water, juice and fruit. The fruit is want is killing me. I would never pay $1.19 for an apple or $7.00 for grapes. If I went with wegoshop, where should I tell them to shop? I am from Canada, so choosing a grocery store is not that easy. I also looked a just getting delivery from Disney, but that was even more expensive. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for your help
Michele

Hi,
We used WeGoShop on our last trip, and we will use them for our December trip as well. The lady who runs this (Marge) is really sweet, prompt, and ready to answer any question you have.

I was a little nervous about my first order, too. The key is to be specific with what you want. To quote the Orlando WeGoShop:

When ordering, it would be helpful to please place your list in categories and use the following format if possible: Quantity, Size, Brand and Description (if necessary). You may also abbreviate your order as long as it is understandable. (e.g.- 2 32oz Best Foods mayos.) If you do not specify a particular brand name and/or size, we will choose one at our discretion as stated at our frequently asked questions page (Link to the left). If you have any special instructions regarding any aspect of your order such as specific substitutions, delivery instructions or notes to your personal shopper, please list them in the "Special Instructions" section of the form. Before we begin shopping for your grocery and household needs, we will contact you to confirm your order and delivery information.

I actually used the Garden Grocer site as a guide for my grocery order with WeGoShop!

I read what you'd like to order, so here are some suggestions as to how to write it:

1-box Eggo Homestyle waffles, 10 count
1-Dozen Eggland's Best eggs, Latest expiration possible
1-pack Oscar Meyer smoked bacon,
1-24 pack of Coke Classic
5-barely yellow bananas
1- 64 oz carton of Trpicana Orange Juice, NO PULP, with Calcium
1-Gallon 2% milk, T.G. Lee or store brand, latest expiration

I hope that this helps you.

Oh, and you don't have to choose where you want them to shop, but I think Publix or Kroger would be fine (I am not that familiar with the grocery stores in Orlando, we don't have either of the ones I just mentioned here in New Orleans).

Good luck!

I know from previous threads on this subject I'm in the minority, but we use Disney. We only get breakfast and snack items, so we don't spend alot anyway. The plus for Disney is that they not only deliver to your room, but will put all the items away for you in their proper place. And you do not need to be in the room. Good luck with whatever you decide.

To the OP, it was my experience with WeGo Shop that they put away the groceries in the proper places, too.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm about to be a new owner at BLT & am curious about what you guys mean by "going through Disney" to get the groceries. I love the idea of that, esp. having them delivered & put away even if we're not there. How do I do this??

:thumbsup2

I found the "menu" for each DVC resort on the member site.

I just placed an order with Garden Grocer last week and having second thoughts. Has anyone ever run a list through garden grocer and then sent their order to WeGoShop? Was there a significant price difference? I was concerned about WeGoShop because of the uncertainty factor about what the final bill would come out.

Any thoughts?

We have used Wegoshop 5 times and have been extremelly pleased. Marge is great to work with. We have gotten exactly what we ordered each time. The delivery window is 30 minutes, rather than 2 hours and they have always been right on time.
Like in the examples above, we have been very specific about what we ordered. I walked my local grocery store aisles and found the brands and sizes I wanted. The order form asks if you will allow substitutions for name brands or not. We do allow substitutions as some brand name items are more a local than national thing.
One time Marge actually called me on my cell phone from the store to ask if she could substitue a brand. Great Service.
I found them cheaper than Garden Grocery and I like compiling my list, rather than picking from a list.
I never specify a specific store, but rather let Marge choose.
Have a Great Trip.

Thank you for the input. I think this confirms my decision. I'm cancelling my order with Garden Grocer today!

Personally, I prefer Garden Grocer's ordering-from-a-menu model. Some things are a bit more expensive, but I don't particularly much care over $10 here or there.

Yes, I suppose I could print a GG order sheet and send it to WeGoShop, but I don't mind rewarding a business who provides the service just how I want it, even if that service is a tad more expensive.

we are another Garden Grocer family. We used Wego shop our first trip five or six years ago, but tried this other one. We've been very pleased and delivery has always been prompt.
