Does anyone know of a company that offers grocery delivery to hotels in St. Louis? I have to spend 5 days there for a work conference in December. I really don't want to eat 5 days worth of restaurant food (yuk), nor do I want to pay for it. We leave for Disney 2 weeks after I get back from the conference. I've checked Google and Bing, but I can't narrow down any real results for grocery delivery in St. Louis. Thanks so much!

Schnucks.com

You need to check and see if your hotel resides in their delivery area, but they are a main chain of grocery stores here.

Hey! I don't have any ideas for you but just wanted to say that I am also going to be in St. Louis a week from today! I will be there for business so my restaurant meals are all paid for. I kind of look forward to eating at different places but I will only be there for 2 nights - not 5. If you see me next week - say "hi!" :rotfl:

I'm from the St. Louis area -- if Schnucks is an option for you, it may well be the only option.

St. Louis, unlike many parts of the country, has only 3 "traditional" grocery chains (Schnucks, Dierbergs, and SuperValu-owned "Shop n' Save").

If you are staying in the city, Schnucks Markets recently opened a downtown location, which may be another option if you are staying downtown.

I don't know any thing about Grocery stores in St. Louis, but I just wanted to say my husband's favorite restaurant in St. Louis is a hole in the wall called Tuckers.

Some bellhop recommended it to him many years ago, and it is still his favorite (this is coming from someone who can and does eat anywhere on his expense account).

You've got to like steaks, because Tuckers is first and foremost a steakhouse. Tuckers defines basic beef n' spuds, though their house salad dressing is popular in grocery stores here (it's poppyseed viniagrette.) There is actually more than one location, the original in Soulard, and two more in the burbs.

One thing about Tuckers -- they don't serve small kids. No high chairs, no boosters, and no children's portions of anything. You can bring them if you must, but don't expect the restaurant to do more than tolerate their presence. ;) (Lots of folks like Tuckers for date night for just this reason.)

Thank you so much for your speedy advice! I will check out Schnucks. I'm staying near the airport, but my conference is at the Civic Center, so maybe the new downtown store would be an option for me. The conference isn't until December 27, so I have time. But steak restaurants are sadly out for me I think. I do have an expense account, but it only covers up to a certain limit. Anything I spend over that is my problem. (Its hard to explain, but basically I work for a non-profit so we need to manage costs really well.) I love my job though, so its worth it :goodvibes

Thanks again! You all are awesome!:worship:

If you are staying near the airport and the conference is downtown, will you have a car? If you do, there is a Shop n Save and a Walmart close enough that you could pick up some items. I'll echo others and say Schnucks.com is a good choice... I used them right after my second child was born, DH was working many many hours and no one could get to the store. PM me if you'd like and I'll help with low cost restaurant ideas too.

The area near Lambert isn't exactly a culinary mecca, but there are some good spots. One of them is a good Indian restaurant, India Palace, on the top floor of the Airport Plaza Inn (right at the western end of the airport on the NE corner of Lindbergh and I-70).

Tucker's actually isn't very expensive for a steakhouse, btw. Here is the menu: http://www.tuckersplacestl.com/menu.htm

Organize your colleagues and take a field trip for Italian food on the Hill or nearby. We have REALLY good Italian food in St. Louis. My favorite is not actually on the Hill proper, it's Trattoria Marcella on Watson Road. They are running some great $10 recession specials on Tues, Wed and Thursday evenings. Marcella is a seriously great restaurant, but not at all pretentious.

I grew up in St. Louis, and when I've gone back to visit and stayed at a Homewood Suites I also used the Schnuck's delivery. I highly recommend it!
