We basically only need a few groceries for our trip in Nov....water, cereal, milk, etc. Would it be cheaper to take a taxi to WinnDixie from SSR or have Garden Grocer deliver?

Another option is to rent a car for the day if there is a good rate. You can get it from the Swan and Dolphin or Disney car care center.

Since the delivery charge from Garden Grocer is only $12, it will be cheaper. Plus, you know what it's like when you go to the grocery store for just a few things... :lmao:

For our last trip we packed some dry goods (cereal, crackers) and some adult beverages. We had WeGoShop deliver, and they were great! They bought exactly what we asked for, they were on time, and the delivery fee was reasonable. I would use them again, and I recommend them.

Enjoy.

We just got back and used garden grocer. They sent exactly what we ordered, called 30 mins prior to delivery (even though we were not there, they left it with bell services), and everything went very smooth! I would highly recommend them to anyone, and plan to use their service whenever I need groceries while on vacation.

We have used Garden Grocer on our last 4 trips. I have no complaints about the service, we have always had it delivered before we arrived. However, my big complaint is the limited selection. Also the items are priced about 25% higher than what you would pay at a regular grocery. (On our last trip, we found several items in the Resort grocery section priced close to what we paid Garden Grocer) Couple that with the delivery fee and tip, and I think you can do better by renting a car and going to the grocery store yourself. We just got a rental through budget for $10.00 a day (two day min).

Considering the same thing myself. Loved Garden Grocer last time we used them, but did feel the items were a bit overpriced. Considering no dining plan this trip, and for 8 nights at OKW I'm :scared1: to see what GG bill would be for delivery. Granted, $12 delivery is reasonable. But I spent over $100 for breakfast items, soda, fresh fruit (apples only I believe) and some water last time around. 8 days, 3 meals each plus snacks, :scared1:.... Not to hijack this thread but how CLOSE are the grocery stores to the resorts? Is there a Super Wal-Mart, Meijer, Publix close? If we rent a car we do have a GPS but no idea how to get around, we always use and love Disney transportation.. Thanks for starting this thread OP!

I checked into Garden Grocer and they told me they have a $40 minimum and then add the $12 delivery fee on top of that. The only thing we really want is water (we go through a lot). I don't want to pay the $3.50 the resort gets for a 1.5 liter bottle. Also, where do you rent a Budget car? The Disney car Care Center and the Dolphin only have National and Alamo and the cheapest I've seen is around $80 for 1 day.

We too have used WeGoShop.com for our grocery deliveries. Marge is the owner and she has been great to work with.

As far as I know there is no minimum and I couldn't find any reference to one on their site. The shop/delivery fee is $17 for orders $100 or less. She will shop at whatever store you'd like and charges you exactly what the store charges, she gives you the actual store receipt.

How much do we tip for delivery of groceries?

Check out the alamo site, they do have rentals for $10/day. They can be picked up from the Dolphin.

You would pay appx. $24 round trip w/ tip from SSR to Winn Dixie by taxi. However, you could save more with a Winn Dixie card, shop for items on sale, buy souvenier items (much cheaper than WDW), etc.

Also if you only need a few things, you might consider just going to the Hess station across from DTD. There items were much more reasonable than WDW's.

Do you know you can have water shipped from costco and delivered to your resort. we did this last time. It was waiting for us a check in. Some people even had it delivered from Staples. Check it out.:lovestruc

We just stayed at AKV 3 weeks ago. We intially ordered from GardenGrocer.com and were so pleased, placed another order mid week. We had 5 kids with us (not all mine). It was so much easier along with cheaper to eat breakfeast and then come back for lunch. Everything on the order was there. For the adults, you will not see beer on the ordering list but you can put it in the notes on check out and they will get what you need.

We are going back the first week in May and will certainly place another order through Gardengrocer.com, much easier then running to the store via taxi.

Just curious...how much of a percentage do you tip for a grocery order??

Hm... I wonder if you could get a 1-time-only large bottled water delivery in FL, WITH a free dispenser rental of course. :)

Try as I might, I just can't make a decent cup of coffee from the FL water. I hate using up tons of plastic bottles though. All I need is one 5 gallon bottle for the week. We can refill our carry-arounds.
