Was planning on getting some groceries delivered to the room on our trip there next month because of DW's very restrictive diet. Does Vons still deliver to the Grand Californian? If so will they bring it all the way to the room, or do i have to meet him by the porters? Thanks for any help!

We had some groceries delivered from Vons to Grand Californian about a week and a half ago. I thought I would have to be here for the delivery so I spoke to Bell Services on our way out for lunch to let them know it was coming and that I would be back in time for the delivery. They said not to worry, they would accept the delivery and when it had arrived Bell Services bought it up to the room for me (when they called to let me know it was there (or left the message light on, for me to call down, can't remember which, I have had a few deliveried) they did say I could go down and pick it up when it had been delivered or they could just bring it up. It included lots of water so was heavy so I got them to deliver it to the room).

It was all very easy!

Wow... Thanks for the info... a couple follow up questions. Did you give Bell Services money to tip the Vons delivery person or could you add a tip on Von's website? I take it Bell Services doesn't have a refridgerator... Did you only order stuff that didn't have to be refridgerated?

Thanks! ~CD

Oh gosh, I didn't even think of a tip for the driver ( :) being first day in the USA and coming from a country where we don't really tip, that didn't even enter my mind). So no I didn't pay a tip online and I didn't leave money for a tip. I did however tip the bell services guy when he arrived with the cart loaded with groceries.

We didn't have anything requiring refridgeration and we happened to be in the room when the order arrived I think so it came straight up. I had booked a delivery time when I had expected to be in the room so even if some of the things had been needing to be in the fridge, they would have been straight to us.

Ok, I just called down to Bell Services (we are still here) and they do have refridgeration! So if your order arrives and you are a guest of the hotel, he said that the groceries will be stored in their fridges.

vons is the same as safeway. I've had Safeway deliver before, and they have told me that are forbidden from accepting tips.

Now as with all delivery people, some are sneaky and take it anyway. I'm not into going against the rules that the hiring company sets.

From vons.com:

Do your drivers accept tips
Tipping is not necessary, and our drivers do not accept tips. Our goal is to give you high-quality service at the lowest possible price.

OH THANK GOODNESS :rotfl2:

I have been sitting here thinking, :guilty: how terrible I was, not even thinking to tip the delivery driver!

I know at WDW, we used Garden Grocer to deliver the groceries to our hotel and you add the tip to your order for the delivery driver. Glad I didn't do the wrong thing by the Von's delivery driver

The Grand Californian bell services does have 2 frigs. We ordered a lot of food from Vons and the stuff that needed to be kept cool was placed in their frig.

Because we had alcohol in our order, Bell services required that we been in the room when they brought the groceries to our room.

Note- when bell services brought the groceries to our room, we realized that we were missing some items. We figured out that we were missing all the stuff that would be in the frig. So we called back down and they found the items in their frig. When the first guy brought up our stuff he didn't look in their frig.
