Grocery deliver vs Uber trip to Publix

Hi. We are 55 days out for our trip and want to stock up on breakfast items for the week. We looked at GG delivery and while convenient the prices are pretty high for the stuff we want. I looked at Publix weekly ads and prices are so much better. Has anyone used Uber to go offsite to shop? It is a $6 trip on Uber. If I go that route will AKL put in cold storage for us until the villa is ready? Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

If you order in, the refrigerated items are held in cold storage for you. We've more often timed our order to be delivered between 4-6 pm on check in day, so we are in the room then, put everything away and then head out for the evening.

We did Uber on our trip in March to run to Publix; it was actually about $20 round trip. Very convenient, although the person who picked us up had lots of stuff in the trunk of the car that had to be rearranged to fit the groceries in. I liked it better than ordering in, although we've had great luck with that too over the years. I got to aisle wander, and pick up what caught my eye and was on sale rather than picking from the online list.

We are thinking that next time we might rent a car for a day - we can venture off site, have an offsite meal, shop and then return the car. It will depend on prices and how much time we have!

Thx for the info. I have never used Uber before. When you used the did the same driver take you and wait for you or did you have to re-book your trip back? Was very curious about that. Thanks again!!

No, it was not the same person. We got a ride there, shopped and as I was checking out DH got the ride back arranged.

What's public? In the same boat and then garden grocer wants 15$ to deliver 30$ worth of groceries that would have cost half to begin with anywhere else.

Publix is a grocery store chain that is near the Disney Parks. I looked at their most recent weekly ad and prices on stuff we need are really good. Store brand Greek yogurt 10 for $8 when Garden Grocer was $1.99 per. Our family of 5 will burn through 20 easy that week. The savings on that alone would pay for the Uber. I love the idea of having food delivered but I like to see what I am going to buy and shop for deals. Every $ I save on groceries can go towards something fun for the kids in one of the parks!
