Hi honeys! I will be heading to Florida to visit my Mom tomorrow and will have very limited internet access. I will try to get an envelope out to Marina before I leave tomorrow to coer the next two weeks.

Mom has mentioned wanting to go to Disney and I have our non-expiry passes from last fall but I don't think she is going to be strong enough or well enough to do this. She has been so sick the last few years.....We'll see....

I am sooooo ready for a break, sunshine, and getting back out walking again.

I arrive home on May 2 so I'll see you in a few weeks!

Have a great trip! Enjoy the weather and time with your mom!!

I think there are a few train members from MN here.

My mom and I are visiting Minneapolis on Friday-Monday. We are staying right next to the Mall of America. Is it easy to drive around? Should I rent a car or taxi around? I know there is a light rail. Should we take the light rail into the city and then taxi to our destination?

Anything I should definitely hit?

Here is what we are thinking...

Friday we arrive. At 3pm we are doing a segway tour.

Address:
St. Anthony Main
125 Main St. SE
Minneapolis, MN 55414

After the tour we are going to dinner at Stella's Fish Cafe.
Address:
Stella's Fish Café & Prestige Oyster Bar
1400 West Lake Street
Minneapolis, MN 55408

Sunday we have a spa appointment at Solimar Spa.
Address:
1121 Town Centre Drive, Suite 105
Eagan, MN 55123

Saturday we will probably stay at the Mall of America. We are also thinking about hitting the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

Do you have any advice on how to get to these locations?

LOL Sorry for the long message.
Uff da, that is a long one alright!!! :rotfl:Heehee, just kidding. If you don't know what Uff da means, you will!!!! Mn_gal helped me with my trip to Minneapolis and Mall of America last September. I would have liked to have done the segway tour, but didn't know about that one....ahem, Mn_gal!!!!! Just kidding. I do have to say that we rented a car, and it was well worth it. We got a little economy one from priceline for like $100 for 4 days, so worth it.

Mn_gal suggested we go to Clanhassen dinner theater one night, and I tell you what, it was terrific. We had so much fun there. I would recommend that, but you would need a car to get there. Downtown Minneapolis is beautiful so I highly recommend at least heading that way for a bit if you can.

It's very easy to get around Minneapolis-And the light rail only goes far into downtown and you would have to walk or take a cab from the station. And if you are planning on the sculpture garden, then you would need a cab or to drive for sure as it is not near the light rail station.

The freeways are marked well and mapquest will get you where you want to go if you rent a car (which I recommend) as cabs can get expensive.

I'm sure you will have a great time! Enjoy our sping weather!

I'm late checking in but MN_gal and Vegasnative did a great job giving you some info. I ditto everything they said including car rental over taxi. I think you'll find the area easy to navigate. I have to put in a plug for St. Paul since it's often overlooked. We have a beautiful Capitol Building which is very near the majestic Cathedral. You can go in both of them and there are organized tours if you want to go that route. Drive down Summit Avenue and you will see some of the most fabulous Victorian homes/mansions including the governor's home and birthplace of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Be sure to drive the full length of it all the way to the Mississippi River. If you want a fun detour, head to Grand Avenue (great shops and restaurants) which is just a couple blocks to the south of Summit Avenue. The Ordway Theatre is in downtown St. Paul and does fabulous productions. The Science Museum of MN is great! It's located right on the Mississippi River in downtown St. Paul. They have the Omni theatre there with a good choice of films and great exhibits. If you take a walk down by the river, there is a great walking/biking/jogging path and you can view the tugboats and barges. I think it's too early to take the paddlewheel down the river but that's fun. They probably don't start operating until May.

If you enjoy a little gambling, Mystic Lake Casino is easy to reach by car and only about 30 minutes from the Mall of America. We have two zoos in the Twin Cities. One is very large and located in Apple Valley which is near Eagan. The other one (Como Zoo in St. Paul) is small (with free admission) but has a beautiful conservatory and there's a great flower/plant exhibit there. If you like Ikea, there's a large one right by the Mall of America. I don't know if the MN Twins are at home during your visit, but you could take in a game at the Metrodome in downtown Mpls. Another really fun theatre is the Old Log in addition to Chanhassen.

Have a great trip!

I have some mail in certificates for a free bag of IAMS Cat food.
If you use this brand it is not a bad deal. You just have to mail in the UPC and the store receipt.
Let me know if you can use them
