Oh gad....you should have disclosed the Jeff Gordon thingie when you first emailed me....that could have changed everything. Well, since you might be the only other NASCAR fan here besides me, I'll let it slide, this time. I'm a Tony Stewart & Kyle Busch fan myself. I love them both. I talked to her last week. I think she said she started a new job, so working 2 jobs, she said she has been working long days and has been super busy. She didn't mention anything to me about her not receiving, so I'm sure she has been getting them. I was worried too, because she always posts.

I'm just checking in. I've been pretty quiet here, but Dh just left yesterday for Germany. We aren't going with him because he is deploying from there so it doesn't make sense for us to move from our home just to be alone in an apartment. I've been battling some depression and anxiety because of it, but I'm trying really hard to work through it. Some days are better than others.
Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for the New Year. Thanks for including me in your group.

We're here!!! How long will he be gone?

2 years. UHG that makes me cringe typing it. But we are planning a trip to see him in April and then in May he will come home (hopefully) for DS's graduation. Then he will come home again on leave during the deployment. Deployement will be a year. It all makes me numb, but I'm trying to get past it and start making plans. He keeps teasing me saying that I don't even have time to get caught up on the laundry before he's due home in May. I'm really bad about keeping up with laundry, so he usually does it.
Luckily, my mom is retired, so she can come up for visits anytime I need her. Its a days drive, but she doesn't mind.
We set up the video cams so the kids and I can talk to him, and DD bought him a Webkinz for Christmas so they can be "buddies" in Webkinz World. He already has his lizard's (Louie's) room set up (pirate themed of course) and is a pro at the Arcade and Gem Mining.

I think the time going up to deployment was worse than the actual time apart. Having said that, I never had to go through such a long one! God bless you all and keep you all safe.

I can understand how you feel. While my husband was active duty Navy, we did many many deployments. Some years I only saw him 2 months combined (in 2 week increments). Just know that once you get yourself into a routine and get past the 1st month mark, the days will start moving more quickly.

Make sure you have many friends you can talk to and lean on when you are feeling blue. It always helped me when my husband would make arrangements with a close male friend who would be willing to help me out when I needed it......you know, when the car goes on the fritz, etc. I was never totaly imcompetent, but there are just some things I can't do on my own. I can do car repair, change out a water heater, etc, but some things just need the added strength of a man. Remember to not look at the calendar in the sense of how many months are left, but take it one day at a time and make a mental note of what is behind you .

Secondly... hang in there, it will go by faster than you think. Although my DH has never been deployed (well he's not in the miltary), I come from a military family. Yes... I am sn Army brat thank you! Anywhoo... My dad has been deployed once that I remember once more when I was a baby, and my brother has been deployed 4 times and had 3 tours in germany. It definetly doesn't get easy, but rather just becomes a day to day routine. Is this his first deployment, or has he been gone before?
