Grocery Bag Swap OPEN

Love those bags!

I bought my charity bags yesterday - not sure if they're small or large, you could get a big box of cereal in plus some other stuff. [I've taken pics but need to post them - currently looking for my battery charger (can't find eIther one - one camera has a rechargeable battery, one takes normal batteries but I have rechargeables in). I thought I'd used them since I fgot back but DH is going to check in the bags in the loft.]

They're green, and fold up to the size od a Cd case (or maybe slightly larger). I'm going up the High Street tomorrow - Superdrug had some nice fabric ones with a sort of 70s girl on in aid of Breast Cancer, or Morrisons have some with apples (I think) on them.

That bag is too cute!

Here is what I have in large cuts of fabric. Jennifer, can you use any of it?

i'll add you on dyan! nice to have you with us!!!

DIT- i am in love with that 2nd from the left mickey fabric!!!!!!! OMG! that's my favorite mickey pin!

 No go on the pink denim. I put things away and don't remember where.

I did find this awesome Waverly print. I think I have 4-5 yards of it.

It is nautical charts and stuff in shades of blue on a wheat color background. It is a medium weight. I was going to recover some cushions with it, but my sewing machine wouldn't cooperate.

I also have these lighter weight cotton prints.

Let me know which ones you would like. As long as get to the post office by 3, it'll go out in today's mail.

Ann, if you won't use it, I'll take the heavier weight fabric. I can get 2 bags out of each yard, so I'll take as much as you want to send.

What does everyone think of that with DIT's Mickey fabrics as the liner? Or, I can go find something plain to line them with.

You guys are so great! :grouphug:

I just measured the Mickey pieces. Each piece is 20 inches wide and 43 inches long. They'll work great for the liners. If you wanted to use them for the outside, could you put that interface stuff on the backside to make them stiffer and stronger to use as the outside fabric? I don't sew and no next to nothing about it so I don't know if that would work.

I found some more. Here are 2 Pooh fabrics and some pretty flowers.

Jennifer, just tell me which fabrics you want to use and I'll send them out to you. I've already set the Mickey ones aside for you.

All one direction patterns are hard for me to work with, because I'm really a basic sewer. I love love love Pooh Bear, but don't feel as though you have to send them to me Stephanie.

As for the interfacing, I don't know. I suppose I could "quilt" them with some batting and make them puffy, like Holl was talking about the other day...

Sounds like you're letting yourself in for extra work there:scared1: Kicky would love the dinosaur fabric! Pity he's not in the swap :rotfl: I'll have to see if I can find something similar as he needs new curtains.

The reason I mentioned the interfacing is because on the cross stitch board I'm part of, we stitched quilt squares for a sick child. I was collecting the stitched squares to give to a lady who was made a quilt out of them. She had me iron that interfacing onto the back of each square and it made it stiffer. Because of that I thought that might be an easy way to make this thinner fabric be useable as the outside fabric.

But, these fabrics will work great for the inside of the bags. So, if you can use any of these for the bags, I'm happy to send them to you. You will just have to use Pooh on a bag for me!!!!!!!:rotfl: Is that what you want from the fabrics I have - Mickey & Pooh?

Meh, what else am I going to do, clean? :lmao:

I'd love to make you a Pooh bag. I'll have that be your lining. ;) I'll find something for the outer part.

If you won't be using them, and don't mind sending them to me, I'd take the Mickey and Pooh fabrics.

Can everyone let me know who wants a special one of my bags, so I know how many I need to make? Holl, would you mind keeping track of that in the first post? If not, I can do it, I guess :rolleyes1

Thank for making my bag with a Pooh liner!!!!!!

I'm going to the post office this morning so I'll go ahead and package up the Mickey and Pooh fabrics and get them off to you. I don't mine sending them. I told you I'm not a sewer, but I have a box full of fabric! I am a collector!!!!:rotfl: Actually, I use the fabrics to make tiny tuck pillow for cross stitch and for the back of ornaments and other hanging pieces. I will probably never use these Disney fabrics, but they were too cute not to buy! I'm glad they will get put to such a good use!!!!!

i love that pooh fabric too! of course i love all fabric! it's a pitty i cant sew to save my life!!

i sure will keep track of it Jennifer. no problem!

off to update.

My chart fabric is 54" wide and just shy of 5 yards.

Use whatever you want for the swap and then :rolleyes1 oh I don't know, maybe make me some with the left overs? I can send you something scrappy in exchange for your time and labor. I have to put in the CJ box, because this fabric took up the whole priority box.

Off the post office now with the fabric. The CJ will be delayed a little bit. Me and recipes don't work well together. :rotfl2:
