Can somebody tell me how the grocery shopping list thing woks at the DVC resorts. I read a little bit and I think it's like you have a list to check what you want and don't want, but I'm not sure if that's right. Also tell me if you've done this and how it works(what kinds of items are on the list, how fast delivery was, how you are billed, etc.) Thank you. I should change my screen name to 1,000,000 questions LOL

I haven't bought groceries there, but I have posted the same question on another board and this is what I know. If you can buy them some where else they will be a lot cheaper. I know it's convient to give them a list and they deliver them for you, but think about how much you can save. Try Winn Dixie or Publix. How are you getting there? If you have a car pick you up, some of them will stop for a free 30 minute grocery stop. Try Tiffany Town Car services. Hope this helped some.

One of the highly recommended shopping services is Wegoshop. They shop wherever you would like them to, give them the specific brands and items you wish to purchase and tell them when you want your order delivered. They charge for the service. Check their site, wegoshop.com and you will see it explained.

If you are into health food, you can also contact Whole Foods. I believe they will have all of your groceries ready for you to just pick up and pay (so you don't have to go through the store to shop.) Albertson's on Orange Blossom Trail did this for us once upon a time (before we cut a lot of bad foods out of our diet.)

If you do have a car, stopping by a local store (Winn-Dixie, Publix, [even Goodings], Wal-Mart, etc) can be a significant savings. This is what we do; have never done the "shopping company" routine....

We used WeGoShop (Link) on our last DVC trip and loved them. We will never go back to wasting time in a grocery store again and/or using an overpriced service. They were terrific and I can't say enough good things about the service.

OP, I think the list you are referring to, is the list on the DVC website for each resort. I have never ordered from that list. But the list consists of the same items that you can purchase at the General Store of each resort. I think the prices are the same as if purchased in the resort store. Items on the list are things like frozen pizzas, frozen dinners, milk, breakfast items, etc. You check off the items that you want, fax the list to the resort a couple days prior to your arrival, and it is delivered to your room. It is definelty more expensive than if you are able to stop at a local grocery store, but it is convenient.

Lynn-Marie - which is the nearest Whole Foods - my knowledge of FL is kind of non existent - I went to the WF Website but have no clue which is the nearest store.

QUESTIONS!!! For either resort grocery delivery or wegoshop, do you need to be in your room to accept delivery? If so, can you pick the time of delivery? What about mailing some nonperishables to yourself (i.,. laundry deterg, coffee, tea, poptarts, etc) ahead of your trip? Anyone tried this?

The closest Whole Foods to Disney is in Winter Park. With light traffic it is a 45 minute drive.

One man's time wasting is another man's travel day / time zone adjustment period. .

I'm curious, too - do you have to wait in your room until they get there? They can't have it in the room before you get there (insert room.ready.vs.pre.assign issues here), so how is this handled? I've had bad experiences waiting for luggage to arrive (both bell services and "we handle the luggage" tour packages (not Disney, but that's why I'm a little leery of ME) ). DW has a grocery list, and we're in-n-out of Winn-Dixie quickly. But I'm intregued by delivery....

We used this primarily for short stays where we needed only a few things because it is more expensive. It was in our room when we arrived.

Each resort stocks in the neighborhood of 70-80 items. Plan on 1.5 -2 times normal store prices. As someone said, the list has the same items (and prices) that you can buy yourself right at the resort. If you want it delivered to the room, you simply fax the order form a couple days ahead of time and they take care of the rest. There is an additional $10 charge for delivery, on top of the prices of the items you select.

Dr. T: Speaking of time zone adjustment, how on earth do you handle not changing to day light savings time when most of the rest of us do?

Regarding WeGo Shop, you send them a grocery list and tell them where you want them to shop. They will make suggestions if you have no idea. They gather it up and meet you at a pre determined time. We had them deliver at 4:30 P.M. We were spending the afternoon at the pool and they called us when they arrived at the resort. We met them at the room and it was exactly on time. They even called us once from the store to tell us that one item we had requested was out of stock and asked if we wanted a substitute. Which we did.

You should give it a try at least once. I think it will really catch on when Disney''s Magical Express starts running. The only thing that would make WeGoShop better is if they became a Dis-Board sponsor (which I've suggested).

I just looked up an overhead map of the area and just saw that I had a (typical for me) dyslexic moment. In fact, Whole Foods IS farther than I thought. I thought it was inbetween MCO and WDW -- but it is actually farther north of MCO -- going NE. Sorry. Now I have to start back at ground zero.

Does anyone know of any good "Whole Foods-like" places to get food on the way from MCO to WDW?

We have used the DVC grocery delivery before. It is a bit more expensive but for us worth the convenience. I usually just get milk and stuff delivered. It is usually in the room when we get there.

I shop at Winn Dixie when I go to WDW. Its at most with Traffic a 10 minute drive from OKW and SSR. If there was no traffic it would be less than a 5 minute drive.

If you are going to shop at Winn Dixie I recommend you order their Reward Card. Its free and can be ordered on their website before you leave home. It will allow you to take advantage of their sales. I keep mine with my travel stuff, since I only use it when we go to Disney.

I just found out that "wegoshop.com" will p/u food from Chamberlin's -- which is a local health food grocery chain, similar to Whole Foods. Just thought you might want to know!

We went to Disney over New Years and I was going to order. I called member services and the woman who answered asked where I was staying and how to access the form online. And I think she emailed me a copy of the form. But, she told me that the price is much better if I could shop myself and it wasn't more than a mile away from where we were staying. So, that's what we did. Keep in mind...take your own salt and pepper unless you plan to buy it. THey didn't have any in the room. I do try to take alot of the dry goods with me (like individual packets of mayo and mustard, and cereal for the kids). Last time I got those shake and pour pancake mixes. I just know that for a few days it's not worth buying big containers of the stuff. The two bedroom unit we had included dish soap, dishwasher detergent and laundry soap and dryer sheets (I think). I don't like they body soap and toiletries though.

If you are going to use wegoshop, how do you determine where to send them to shop? Do they go to only one supermarket per order (or will they go to publix and then pick up a few things at BJs or Costco?).

Also, which supermarkets do they use in the local area? Which do you recommend? Thanks!
