We will be staying at POR June 9- 17 and have the DDP but plan on eating breakfast in our room. We were going to bring a box of cereal, pop tarts, muffins etc but will need to get a gallon of milk but dont know how we will get one since we will not have a car:confused3 Any ideas?

They sell milk at most of the resorts (it is expensive) and there is a store in DDD. You can order from gardengrocer.com, but if you just need milk I don't thin it is the way to go.

I have never stayed at POR, but if you take a WDW bus over to OKW they have a mini mart in their store.

The general store at POR may have it. I am sure there is a Dis expert on POR here on it that will chime in.

If this store does not have the gallon sized milks, any of the resorts with villas on site will have a general store with groceries, including half gallons of milk, frozen foods, etc. I think they only have halg gallons, but I am not positive.

Perhaps you could plan to eat near one of the villa stores for dinner the first night, so the travel time would be convenient. For instance, say you were eating at Whispering Canyon Cafe, just grab the milk in the lobby store. Or take the boat to DTD and then take the boat to OKW, go to the store and head back.

We stayed at POR this past Sept, and bought half-gallons of milk there several times. We always went with the half-gallons, because I'm not sure if a full gallon would fit in the resort fridge. We bought the milk either right in the food court, or I think also Fultons (the gift shop) had some too.

I saw half gallons of milk at the Mercantile in WL. I think they were about 3.00 each (last month). Even at that cost it will save you money. Even breakfast foods are expensive. I think any resort w/ villas will have the milk available.

We are DVC members and there are several grocery delivery companies that most of us use 1. We Go Shop and 2. Garden Grocer. You can also have them pick up cases of water.

We brought small boxes of cereal, disposable spoons and plastic bowls in our luggage. Nearly every morning my husband went down to the food court early and bought 2 pints of milk, since we had no fridge, and some fruit. Worked great!:thumbsup2

we are using garden grocer....just got the basics like milk, water, yogurt, cheese sticks, bread, peanut butter, snack crackers, etc. You have to spend $40 I believe. We too are packing snacks that can be transported like poptarts, snack bars, fruit snacks!

we used garden grocer and are using them again on our next trip. even on the ddp, we wound up eating breakfast in the room every day. as an idea, we brought a toaster with us in our luggage. had toast, bagels, pop tarts and milk & cereal every day. it was a great start to each day to go into the park with something aready in our bellies. we stayed at por, they held our groceries behing the front desk until we got back from the parks on our first day, then theywere delivered. i'll never regret it.

We also used Garden Grocer last April. They were great. I felt bad because the groceries were already there when we checked in so I did not get a chance to
tip them. We will probably use them again in May & maybe I'll get the chance to tip them this year. We got donuts, muffins, fresh fruit, soda (even beer) for mu DH.
