Ok I know somewhere I read where the best place to purchase groceries to be delivered to the resort is, and cannot remember now! I need to order some basic groceries for my 17 year old DD and her 3 friends who are traveling at the beginning of Aug for 7 nights.

1) where is the best place to order and how do you contact them
2) can we pay by credit card from home before they go?
3) What is the delivery cost?
4) If groceries are left with bell services how much should they tip and will bell services bring the groceries to their room?

I think that is it for now and thanks in advance!

I use Wegoshop. Others use Garden Grocer. I think everyone has their reasons for using one over the other.

I usually pay cash for our groceries. Marge brings them right to the room. She will call you ahead of time to make sure you are all set with your list and your hotel, and your check in time, etc. I really like her and don't hesitate to give her my business.

We have used Garden Grocer(ww.gardengrocer.com) three times and never had a problem. I know there are other in the Orlando area to as there have been other threads on this. I do not know the most current delivery fees as it has been about 1 year since we last used them but they delivered to our resort and that included beer and it worked out great with no problems...smjj

I have used Garden Grocer twice now and been very happy with them.
I place the order online and pay with CC. There is an option to leave a tip then too. I do that.
Both times, we have not been in the room when they have arrived, so Bell Services delivered them. I tipped them too. I think $5 one time....not too much stuff and $10 the other when it was on third floor with stairs only and a lot of things.

How do I contact Wegoshop? Once again what is the standard tip for that actual groceries to be delivered, I want to make sure I cover everyone!
Thanks again.

I tip around 20% and I also pay cash but I know you can leave a CC# with them and they will charge it instead.

I much prefer wegoshop over garden grocer. I like to pick my own specific groceries and place that they are purchased at.

Are these services better than the ones offered online by the DVC site? We are trying the DVC one for Boardwalk this weekend for the first time.

What is the difference?
Thanks for any info!

major difference is selection. The Disney site has very limited selection and the individual items are expensive. Garden Grocer has a larger selection and slightly lower prices but items are still expensive. Wegoshop has unlimited selection and even better prices since you provide them a list, they shop where ever you tell them to, bring you the reciept and you just pay for the groceries at face value, and their service fee.

The Disney shopping only includes what they have available in the resort stores. You will pay a huge markup on this stuff and have a very limited selection.

Wegoshop will shop at whatever store you prefer and will buy exactly what you want (size, brands, etc.) at the regular supermarket prices (no markup).

Garden Grocer has you shop from their online store. You are limited to what they have listed and at their prices.

I believe the delivery fees for Garden Grocer and Wegoshop are comparable. I just really, really like the personalized service you get from Marge at Wegoshop.

The only time I will buy groceries at disney is if we don't have a car and we did not have enough of something that we ordered from garden grocer. They are just too expensive. Besides the only way to make dinners from their selection is to use prepackaged crap that I wouldn't want to serve my dogs.

Never shopped at Wegoshop but I think Garden Grocer has a very large variety and don't have any complaints at all. If I remember right when we checked them both out the last time they were about the same price. We choose Garden Grocer because they had the items on their website(large selections) and it was much more convient than having to draw up a shopping list of selected certain brands. All I know for sure is they both have DVC beat for price and selection, DVC is just plain expensive....smjj

Thanks for the info. I had no clue there were other alternatives out there!

BTW, Garden Grocer gets all of their groceries at Publix so you know they are coming from a reputable source (as reputable as large groceries stores get I suppose).

My trip next wk I used Gardengrocer and it was very easy to order. I left a tip online - I am worried the driver won't know I left a tip. I don't want them to think I'm cheap. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks again for all the information, getting together tomorrow with DD's friends parents and will check wego and garden online and see what makes most scense for what they need. (they will only have a studio so we are looking at bottled water, soda, milk, bread just the essentials).

I use Garden Grocer because I can enter my cc info. online and include the tip. (Then I give a couple bucks to Bell Services when I pick it up.) One of the main reasons I selected GG over WeGo is because WeGo prefers that you pay in cash & I always get the order delivered to Bell Services before we arrive. Because they prefer cash (the last time I checked) they were charging a 13% surcharge to use a credit card and GG does not add anything. I thought that was pretty steep and that pretty much nixed using WeGo in my pocketbook.

FYI I used We Go Shop in April and paid with a CC and was not charged a 13% Credit Card Fee. I really liked We Go Shop because of the unlimited selection. I just go to walmart write down what I want then send the list. Garden Grocer would be convient as well if you want to pay up front :)

Either service is fine---it really depends on what ordering model you prefer. I happen to like Garden Grocer's "choose from a list" model because otherwise I would forget things, and for the most part we haven't encountered a situation where we wanted a specific thing that wasn't on their list. But, We Go Shop would be great too. Sometimes one will be more expensive than the other, but in the end I suspect the differences are not that great and I don't get too worked up over $20 here or there.

Use Garden Grocer, I agree that either service is probably fine. There have been times Garden Grocer didn't have something on their site and I just called up and got what I wanted no problem. Bell services will cold store you items that need to be as well. I usually like to have it delievered before we even get to the hotel, so the groceries are waiting for us. So then if our room is ready early we can have everything with us, get "put away" with luggage and groceries and be good to go. I am sure you will love which every you do and will want to always do it going foward.

I used GardenGrocer. They were great. I have a feeling it is actually part of the Publix Supermarkets. Much easier than the Disney service and was there before I arrived. AKV kept groceries in their Frig for me. Don;t over buy like I did. Remember you're not in room most of the time.
