We are staying in the cabins. Just want a few things to keep in fridge. Where do we get bagels, cream cheese, cereal, milk, coffee, snacks?
Are we able to buy beer, wine or liquor?
Is there anything you might recommend to bring from home?
PS. We do not have a rental car, but we did rent a golf cart.

Peace and thanks

Both the Trading Posts at Ft. Wilderness will sell you all of those items, but they will be pricey.

How are you getting from the airport to Ft. Wilderness??

If you are using a Towncar service, most of them provide a grocery stop on the way to the airport. I would recommend having them stop at Publix or Wal-Mart Super Center and you can get all of those things at very reasonable prices.

If you are using Mears with a package and can't switch, then the Trading Posts are your only option.

If you are using a taxi, then I would suggest looking into the various Towncar services around. Check out the Transportation board, they can answer all of your questions.

I pack coffee, tea, suger, small jars of pbj, cans of tuna, plastic non opened mayo, mustard exct. Then when I get there I only need to pu perishable food. I also saw people with an insulated cooler on the plain a few weeks ago. The space I use packing the food is usually replaced with gifts on the return trip.

Beer is extremely pricey at the Trading Posts!!!!! It seems to me that I remember beer being ~$10 for a 6-pack and that's just for Bud, Miller, etc. not Coronas - they were $16 for a 6-pack. It was so expensive my husband and I starting laughing. Now we drink beer but will definately do without at those prices. I have heard of people getting a taxi and going to the grocery store. If you need alot of stuff at the beginning of your trip, it would definately be worth the price of the taxi.

We just returned from a mid/late August trip to FW Cabins. Since we had a rental car, we did our grocery shopping offsite and went ABC Liquors over by Win Dixie. I would think it would even be worth a taxi ride if you are staying for any period of time and tend to spend some time kicking back at the campground.

Although you still need a car to get to them, we found the two HESS stations (one by DTW and one by Swan) to be fairly reasonable for Beer. I guess you could get to DTW via bus and walk across the street. They were also very competitive on gas prices last time we were there (sure beats the old exxon's)
