I would like to grab FPs for GRR sometime during the day. Then, when the time is getting near, I would head back to the room (DVC room- GC) to get flipflops for our group while DH & DD continue to ride other rides. There are lockers that we could store our regular shoes in, right? Is this a rational plan, or the distance/time a lot longer than I am realizing?

Also, I know I can enter through the GC, but can I exit and get back to the room that way too?

You can enter and exit through the gch entrance which is right by Grizzley. Also there are free lockers by the ride to store your stuff. There's a time limit on the "free" part but it'll be long enough for you to ride.

Yes there are lockers. They are free for a certain amount of time (you will be told by the machine when your time limit is). They are secure.

The time/distance to grab flipflops will depend on where your rooms are. I might be wrong but I think the villas are a bit further out from the DCA exit than normal rooms. And normal rooms can be quite a walk (ours was).

I would just bring the flipflops in a simple backpack or even a merchandise bag and carry it with me. Some use those string backpacks you can get anywhere.

As a guest of the Disneyland resorts (Grand, DLH, or PPH) you can use that area to enter and exit.

There are free lockers (tricky to find though) and the entrance and exit to and from GC is right by GRR so it's a great plan and I highly recommend going to the room to change too if you get drenched cause its miserable being wet at dland/DCA

One of the reasons we like the GCH is that my DD and DH like to ride GRR over and over until they are drenched -- it's easy to go back up to the room and change after that.

That's a great plan! I was just thinking one time with the FPs, but it makes sense to do it several times while we're already wet. How long of a line does it usually have? What time of day do you recommend riding with the shortest wait?

It works well if the lines aren't too long They've been able to ride it 2-3 times usually. I haven't been to DCA since Carsland opened. I could see GRR being less crowded because everyone is on the other side of the park, but I'm guessing it will be more crowded since Cars is drawing more people into the park. I think we usually hit GRR in the late morning... grabbed a FP then rode it, then rode it again with a FP (and I think there is a single rider line there, too). I'm not sure how easy it would be to do that if the park was really crowded. But a great perk of staying at the GCH.

You can do the single rider here and really cut your time.Honestly I wear summer sandals all day, if they get wet they dry in like 5 minutes.They are really more comfortable than sneakers anyway,your feet stay so much cooler and you can take them off when you stop and rest your feet.I love this ride.Always a blast and you meet the nicest folks.It has been dry lately for refurb but it is supposed to be reopening pretty soon I think.

It really is 1-2 mins from grizzly to your wing. You will cut through the pool using your room key in the pool gate by whitewater snacks. The gate on the other side of the pool by your wing is marked "emergency exit" but it's not. There is even a room key on that gate to let you back through when you return. No emergency alarm, no problem. The lifeguards use it all day also. Enjoy

I had no idea that we needed to get our hands stamped. Why? Is there a different line that I'll enter through once my hand is stamped? We will be leaving the parks each afternoon, and this is something I didn't know about. Thanks!

Same line. It is DLR's way of making sure that you did not pass your ticket to someone else. If the ticket has been used that day already and you are coming back into the park or parkhopping, they want to make sure your hand was stamped so you had actually exited a park that day.

Disagree that it is 1-2 minutes. GCH is a big place. If one is going to the VGC then it will be closer to 10 minutes to get to your room from GRR.

We have had a room in the east wing (very close to GRR and the DCA entrance) and it took us 5 minutes from GRR to our room. That includes using elevators of course.

Sorry. I have to disagree too. We stay in the 400 wing. The closest one to the GRR. It takes us about 5 mins to get to our room. Even cutting across the pool area there is no way you can make it in 2 mins.

Are they still doing this? (I haven't been since Christmas). Someone told me that the new picture identification program would do away with the hand stamp.

We had to have our hand stamped the beginning of February.

Sorry guys, I did this 8 or 9 times round trip in 5 days over Pres Day weekend. Dropping off coats after the morning, going to get RSR Fastpass, back for lunch every day, etc, etc.

GCH is big, but the route from DCA entrance to DVC is a near-perfect diagonal line through the pool, to the DVC elevator. There are no long hallways or backtracking at all. There are four elevators and they are rarely used. They open almost instantly on any floor. I could believe 2-3 minutes if you are sauntering, and 10 minutes if you stop for a beer at Whitewater Snacks (did that too).

I agree there are a lot of long hallways and it take longer to get to other rooms. I thought this was a specific question about Grizzly to DVC. Don't picture going around through the lobby-- You can see the diagonal line through the pools on sattelite.

The pool gate by White Water Snacks is seasonal. It was not open in January. When closed, your two options to get to the VGC are to go through the lobby or cut through the pool by entering near Storytellers Cafe. Both routes are at least 5 minutes.

Yikes, Thanks Cory I've never seen that gate locked. That would change things. It was open a week after your stay. Storytellers gate is not that far out of the way though. Walk faster! Through the lobby can be a hike.

It would take me longer if I had family in tow of course. But not solo taking things (coats/shoes) back to the room. Either way, OP, cut through the pool if open. Hard to think it would be closed now. No problem for me-- many times.
