Since we usually stay at the BWPPI across the street, we hit GRR right before we leave to head back to our room for lunch. We always seem to get drenched on the ride, so being able to change clothes is needed. If you are staying at the Grand Californian, that makes it even easier.

We only do GRR in the summer and try to hit it in the afternoon when it is hot out. We are looking forward to getting wet because we are hot.

We wear shorts, tee-shirts and sneakers. Yes we get. Sometimes more than others. But it seems we are dry within an hour. It feels good on a hot day to have a wet shirt and wet shorts. Just do not go directly from GRR into an air conditioned place like a restaurant, Aladdin, Animation Studios, etc. We have never worn a poncho and no one has ever complained.

My point is that if you are wearing light clothes and it is hot out then getting wet is welcome and a poncho is unnecessary as is having a change of clothes nearby.

We avoid GRR in winter months.

I went today and bought ponchos from Wal Mart! We are ready for GRR!!! (well we will be in a little over 2 weeks!)

One thing I should have already asked about it younger kids on ride...I know there is the height limit, DD4 is now over the 42"... I haven't even thought twice about this because she is a DARE DEVIL...she was over the 40 in last year (at 3) and went on everything possible and loved it all.
But anything I should know about for younger kids? I have never been on this...

I think she'll be fine. Personally, I don't like how much the raft spins (but I won't go on BTMRR, Space Mtn, or the teacups). I think that most people don't have any problems with it. Other than the spinning, I think it's a really fun ride and not too scary. My DD went on it as soon as she could (I think it was when she just turned 5) and loved it so much that she rode it again and again until she was soaking wet and tired.

It depends, I went on it a few times, once I barely got a drop, and the next two I was completely soaked. It kind of depends where you sit. Also, the geyser at the end maybe get you and thats what really did it for me!
