Gripe about room requests / confirmations

Normally, I never have anything bad to say about MS, but this aggravated me.

I called yesterday to add a room request to my OKW stay for Easter. I had 2 requests - #1 priority (which I stated to the CM helping me) - building 30 or higher. Secondary, not that important (which I also stated) - Turtle Pond area. No problem, she says, requests were added.

Hours later, I get an updated confirmation - which surprised me - now it shows my request (singular) - Turtle Pond area. :confused3

I didn't even think they sent new confirmations for requests, and I wish they wouldn't even have bothered, because now I have to call back today and verify that my original more important request even got entered at all.

So just a nit, definitely - but causing more work for me.

I wonder if the standard request (boxes that they check off) will show on the confirmations but not request they have to write in by adding a note.

IMO requests are like the waitlists, no one will tell us the truth on how they are administered or maybe they don't really know.

I have talked to several MS CM's, a couple of Managers, and the Front Desk CM's at different resorts about requests and I have received several different answers.

Here is what I have found out:

Disney is moving towards a standard list of requests.

MS still has the ability to enter free form requests but many of the MS CM's, don't use it, won't use it, or think that they can no longer use it.

Free form requests don't always get sent to the Front Desk.

The standard list of requests that they are using was put together buy someone who has no idea of what views are available at the different resorts.

... or maybe you're not asking the people who do know. You assume "no one will tell us the truth" when you may not have asked someone who does know and has the authority to respond.

Ask a bus driver! :teeth:

The whole thing's odd. I was just at OKW two weeks ago, and made the reservation only one week in advance of when I was going. I made some building requests (no HH category was available), but when I received the confirmation ... no requests were printed. I couldn't remember if they were supposed to or not, and I wasn't THAT concerned anyway, so I just let it go. When I got to OKW at about noon of the day I was checking-in, I had been assigned into one of the buildings I had requested, AND .... the room was ready!

Bottomline, I'm not sure if the request at time of reservation made any difference or not, or if it was even there, but it still worked. Go figure!

I had this same experience. When I called back, a different CM read me back my requests, exactly as I had made them. I think they aren't translating properly to the confirmation emails but that they are there.

I definitely got that impression when booking at Kidani and requesting "lower floor". The MS CM said "I only have an option for 'Higher floor' but I'll type it in and hope somebody notices."

You are right about that one! :rotfl2:

In 2010 I requested "higher floor". I thought that was an easy request, and my only one. At checkin, The CM said she had put the package together herself and just finished them a couple hours ago. I was given ground floor. I said, "I requested higher floor, are any available?" The CM replied "Oh, I never looked at that." She said you have to push F4 (or something like that) to see requests, and she never even looked at it.
So it would appear they have to "look" for requests?

This is what I think too, based mainly on reports I've seen here from others. Yet, it makes me nervous enough that I want to call. And I never had time today, so tomorrow I guess.

I agree - the whole request process is a bit nebulous.

I know but I ain't telling, they would then have to kill me. :rotfl:

I can assure you those that do know are not talking.;)

I can share this. If you list your requests to MS and the CM does put them on your reservation, they are then downloaded to your resort when your reservation is downloaded. I would just make sure they are on your reservation.

We were lucky in our BWV requests. I asked for ground floor, end of the hallway, and we got it both times. I'm thinking we were lucky because nobody wants to walk that far! It's real close to the quiet pool though.

I think more people at OKW request near HH. I've never had a request for Turtle Pond Road denied.

It happened to me when I put in two requests. I told them the requests were in order of importance. My confirmation only listed the second request. When I call to add ME, I'll ask about it.

This happened to me too! My only request for my last stay at BLT was "Please, anything but the ground floor!" Guess what I got when I arrived!

I think you're onto something. I would think they can print standard requests from a controlled list, but not free form comments. Typos would look sloppy on a confirmation, not to mention the risk of a disgruntled CM having a little fun on their last day. :scared1:

"Near HH" is its own booking category. It's guaranteed at the time of booking rather than being a request.

There are other buildings near the HH that are not in the "near HH" category that people often request. Buildings 62,63, 64, 15, 16, 27, 28 are common. They are requested more often than Turtle Pond Road.
