Universal newbie, arriving Wednesday night from California!!
Thursday morning we are getting up early for DA. My kids will not ride Gringotts or any roller coaster, for that matter. If they wait in lie with me, can they cross over the ride car and wait for me? They are not little, ages 11 & 14 (I know, it's absurd) but they hate roller coasters. I want them to wait in the queue with me though. What about single rider line? Can they cross over there, too? Thanks!! So excited to be going to Universal this week!!!

Gringotts isn't really a roller coaster.

They can take the last exit before boarding. It won't be an issue.

It doesn't really go very fast or have any big drops. You wear 3D glasses and it is a mixture of screens and huge sets and you stop in different scenes and there are effects on your motion based vehicle. It is kinda like Indiana Jones but with 3D effects instead.

if it isn't a roller coaster, then what is it? :upsidedow

I have not rode it yet but based on reviews it is a dark ride with simulated coaster effects, based on screens, 3d, and vehicle motion. From what I've read there are no drops or anything. It's a family friendly ride.

oh, awesome!! Maybe they will ride it after all!! They both like Indiana Jones! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much!! :flower3:

You should try and get them to ride! It's an experience they won't want to miss.

Have them go they won't regret it, very mild ride.

The rumors that Gringotts was going to be a coaster, came more from fans who assumed that it would be a coaster based on what they saw in the movies and read in the books. Of course, Universal Creative had different ideas. Since the details of the ride stayed mostly underwraps, people continued to call it the "Gringotts coaster" as a shorthand.

Most of the motion is definitely more Indiana Jones/simulator like. There is a coaster element, most noticeable near the beginning, but I bet the mechanics of it resemble more carnival or fair "kiddie coaster" with an Indy like car on top of it, than anything we'd call a true roller coaster. Not even Gadget Go-Coaster levels. Tiny bunny hill to give more movement than could be obtained by just tilting the simulator vehicle forward. And the spinning is pretty mild too. The vehicle makes a revolution in a couple spots, but it's a slow, controlled spin, low centrifugal forces...teacups, Roger Rabbit, Men In Black it is not.

So definitely have them go!

Rode it yesterday and the motion is very mild. There is a small waterfall type drop at the beginning similar to pirates but after that it's smooth sailing. A few turns and such but nothing crazy. It's a cool ride and worth the early entry.
