grinchmas?

It is not a seperate event and runs all day during park hours.

"Seuss Landing at IoA transforms into Whoville, with roaming “Who’s” and a flurry of whimsical Who-liday decorations. You can even meet the mean, “green one” himself."

Ahhhh how I long for the Wholidays! There is also a "Whobilation" show performed several times a day in Seuss Landing.

Have dates come out for Grinchmas?

No dates out yet - I'm guessing, but I think it runs from around Thanksgiving to around New Years.

We were there last year and the parade only started on December 10th.

We'll be in Florida around Thanksgiving. Is there anyway to find out when the "Whoville" Christmas show starts. The Universal special events listing states:to be announced. I would think that they must have those dates by now!

I've emailed them twice asking about the dates and they keep saying not yet and to check their website for updates.

I was really hoping this year they'd go back to starting Grinchmas right before Thanksgiving vs. December 10 so we can catch on our trip. Seeing the Grinch and his lair and the shows was a highlight of our trips in the past!

I just called the information number on their site and was told that they still don't have dates for the "grinchmas" celebration. They are cutting things pretty close to when people need to plan things. She also said "They're concentrating on Halloween so they haven't put out the dates". I don't get it...WDW posted all of its dates awhile back.

Universal isn't Disney. I watch the boards all the time and hear people crying about when are the hours coming out for November, etc. Universal has their hours out a year at a time. You don't have to wait for months to find out when they will be closed. The calendar is done yearly. Universal doesn't announce the dates for Grinchmas, Halloween Horror Nights, and Mardi Gras until a few months before the event.

The reason is because very few people plan their vacation specifically to attend Grinchmas. Many people plan their Disney vacation specifically for an event like Mickey's Christmas. Disney's events are seperately ticketed events while most of Universal are not (except for HHN and Rock the Universe.) Universal events are included in the regular park ticket. It is just an extra event that is free for guests not somthing that is planned months in advance that people have to purchase tickets for. Since there is no need to purchase tickets for Grincmas, there is not a pressing need to announce the dates. The overwhelming majority of guests who travel to Universal during Christmas know nothing about Grincmas or the Macy's parade and it is a pleasant surprise.

I didn't think that I was "crying" about the November hours. Some of us don't have the opportunities to visit Universal that often as we do not live in
Florida. It would be great to be able to see grinchmas again {saw it several years ago and loved it}. When you travel {we're from New England} it requires planning and it would help if Universal let us know when we could enjoy this event.

Disneygal, I certainly wasn't saying you were crying about November hours. What I was trying to say is that I read these boards everyday and there is always a long running thread complaining about Disney not listing their hours yet. So when you made the statment that Disney has already announced their MVMCP, I mentioned that just a few days ago people were complaining because Disney hadn't listed their operating hours for November. Universal does list their hours months in advance. They just don't announce the dates for certain non-ticketed events months in advance. Disney has to because people have to buy tickets. So even though Disney has already announced the dates for MCMCP they still haven't released park hours for December.

I wish Universal would announce the dates for Grinchmas far in advance but they just don't but at least they have their park hours up months in advance.

Just plan your trip anytime after the first week in December and you will be fine.

Grinchmas should be done by thanksgiving. Macy's parade starts mid december since it is the actual parade from NY and since its in NYC on thanksgiving then there is transit and then UO has to decor the macy's floats, all of which takes time. Grinchmas and the USF christmas decor will be up for right after thanksgiving. Also just so you know, no Grinch cave this year, it was just taken out. But you will still find the grinch at certains times, hopefully in his sleigh. From the look so far I would say this years decor will be better then last year minus the fact a few things will be no longer offered like the cave.

Oh no, no cave? What a bummer. Our favorite part of Grinchmas is going into the Grinch's Lair and meeting him and seeing the show.

I sure hope it's all up and running when we're there November 25 and 26.

Grinchmas and the Macy's Holiday Parade will both begin on December 9.

I'm so bummed about this, but at least I know for planning a future December trip.

I've enjoyed Grinchmas 3 times now so much, but we missed it last year (so I didn't know it that it now starts so late in December, rather then at Thanksgiving) and this year I planned our trip for the Saturday after Thanksgiving only to find out there will be no Grinchmas when we're visiting. What a bummer. :(

Where did you find those dates? If December 9th is the official opening then
we will probably miss it this year. I wonder why they changed the dates from
previous years. We saw the grinchmas celebration around Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. I really love Universal but may opt to stay at WDW because their XMas celebrations start around Thanksgiving.

We loved The Grinch last year - he was so like the movie it was uncanny! Much better than meeting the Grinch at any other time of year - it could really have been Jim Carrey in that suit, he was so realistic! :goodvibes

The date was announced internally last week (details will probably be on the web site after HHN kicks off) but it starts the same time as it did last year so it's not a secret. Also, The Grinch and Max will be meeting and greeting at various places in Seuss Landing as his lair is part of the new ride opening in '06 (it looks as though we'll finally be finishing the long in limbo Sylvester McMonkey McBean ride!). :bounce:
