We will be at WDW for a week in December - our first holiday trip. I have just heard there is a Grinchmas celebration at Universal?

Anyone attend last year? This is one of our all time favorite movies. We would consider visiting Universal for a day if it is really recommended.

Any thoughts or opinions would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Ahhhhh Grinchmas :)

Last year, we went at Thanksgiving, & had our picture taken with the Grinch. That picture went in ALL of our Christmas cards.
In my humble opinion, that was worth the price of admission right there. :)

Ok, back on track, YES!! LOL. There are a lot of fun things to do & shows to watch, & the fake snow was more fun than this native Floridian could take !!!!:bounce:

Sorry for the delay wendypooh, but I got the PM & PM'd ya back :)

Can you believe it?

We're already talking about Christmas around here.

Another reason why the marketing department needs to advertise the events a couple months before they happen.

Not to hijack this thread, but Robvia, I agree with you !
People plan vacations months & even a year in advance, but you can't find anything out until the month before you go !!!
As an example, look at the absence of HHN threads - and hardly any rumors!

Thanks Seahag........ your name is so funny!! See what I did!!! ;)

Grinchmas is great. You get to meet the Grinch, the show is fun to watch, there are often Whos running around (mainly during the busy week(s)), and the Mt Crumpit Snow Plummet (ice slide). It's very festive and decorative.

Plus last year they had a big celebration where the Grinch served a giant fruitcake to all the guests to mark the first day of Grinchmas. It was weird because normally when IOA opens for the day, many people rush to Spider-Man and Hulk. Nobody went into Marvel until after 930 that day. They were too busy getting the free fruitcake!

Does anyone know when the Grinch will be there? We are thinking of going the weekend before Thanksgiving and that would be cool to see Grinch.

Last year, Grinchmas started on the Friday before Thanksgiving (I believe it was Nov. 22).

When we were at IOA in Jan of this year, we were in the bookstore in Seuss Landing. I was reading my DD(3) books when Lou Lou Who and Betty Lou Who came in. They started reading to my daughter and then lo and behold in came The Grinch himself with his dog Max.

He was in full grinch form and came in saying that he had to read a story for community service. Soon the place was mobbed because the Grinch sat in the window seat facing out of the store. My DD was scared of him. He wanted her to help read the story but she wasn't having it. He ended up selecting another girl who was more amenable. He started reading "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (of course) and when a man's phone started ringing he cocked his head and said " I am trying to read here. Get out of here now!!" Then a little boy kept talking and reading another book (Grinch took exception to this and he admonished the boy, only to realize he only spoke spanish) So he told the boy to " quiete (sp??) this is not a bibliotecha"

Then when my daughter whispered something to me he said to her, " Are you through whining yet?" Near the end of the story Cindy Lou Who came in. He even changed the story to make him appear to be the hero, and he ended the story before his heart grew.

It was a priceless experience I cannot even begin to describe accurately. I just hope we will be able to see him next time. I didn't even think of him as an actor in a suit. HE WAS THE GRINCH.

I hope many of you will have the chance to experience this. I do not think it was planned. It seemed very impromptu. This actor had so much energy and was so into his role. He was so mean and grumpy. Perfect.

We were there between noon and 1:30 pm I believe. Good Luck to all of you I hope you will be able to catch the Grinch in all his glory.

Is the Grinch there the rest of the year? I know there is a Grinchmas, we saw that last year. We are going for 2 days in April to USO and my grandaughter wants to see the Grinch, so please tell me he will be there in April.

Thanks!

There are 2 kinds of Grinch: Cartoon Grinch and Movie Grinch.

Movie Grinch is the one seen exclusively during Grinchmas. He's the one that's able to speak and can do all the things he does.

Cartoon Grinch is around during non-Grinchmas times. He doesn't speak, and doesn't get to be as mean. You could say that Cartoon Grinch is the one that has the bigger heart. :p

Either way, there's going to be a Grinch around. You just have to catch him at the right time, or if you see other Seussian characters, ask their escort about the Grinch.
