We did the Grinch Breakfast, Christmas Eve at 11:15. We went to Hagrid's at early park opening for staying on site. Hagrids kept breaking down, we saw 1 staff the entire time and to get out of line you had to walk back through the crowd. I was worried we were going to miss our reservation and by 11:15 we were almost to the front of the line. We got off at 11:30 and I went to guest services by the train. It was hot, no shade and I had to practically yell through the glass for the worker to hear me. I explained we missed our reservation and was there anything they could do. She told me to walk over to the breakfast and see if they could still seat us, she claimed she did not know the phone number and worse case scenario they would refund us. We speed walked over and they said as long as we got there before 12:15 they could seat us. I thanked them profusely and was grateful they could still seat us.
We were seated right away very close to the Grinch. Our waitress could have doubled for the grinch. She was borderline rude, was in a hurry to get us out of there and really cast a negative shadow on a very expensive breakfast I think it was $253 for 4 of us.
They brought us a nice plate to share with a huge cinnamon roll and fresh blueberries and strawberries. She brought us each a glass of warm water. Why bother, it was terrible, we also got a drink that came with the meal. She immediately directed us to get in line for the Grinch, they give you a punch card and you go outside, and come in the side door to meet him. The Grinch was great, very entertaining and the kids loved him. We had plenty of time for our interaction and it was the highlight of the breakfast. I booked the breakfast on one of the first days the bookings opened and did not see a menu. I realize you are paying for the experience rather than the food. That being said the food was awful. The kids got ricotta pancakes (3) with a lemon and blueberry compote and they were extremely sweet. I got the French toast with pistachio and chocolate ganache, I ate less than half, again very sweet and DH got the coffee rubbed brisket with a spicy potatoes, onion mix. He liked the meat, not the rest. The whos, including Cindy Lou came around and they were outstanding. At the end, she gave us a wrapped grinch cookie for each of us and never offered a drink refill, it could be because it was Christmas Eve and she wanted to go home, but she could not get us out of there fast enough. Other tables did not appear to be rushed.
So while I am grateful, they accommodated us, it was a 1 and done meal. I was disappointed no green eggs and ham at a Seuss restaurant and hope they expand the meal choices for next year.
