Do all of the DVC resorts have grills? In particular AKV and SSR? Are there many? Does guest services give out grilling utensils? Do you reserve the grills?

:thanks:

You don't reserve the grills. SSR has grills by the pools, and AKV has some near the tennis courts by Kidani. Each treehouse has a grill by their steps and they have utensils supplied. I don't know how you get the utensils at the other resorts. We've only grilled at our treehouse.

Thanks Bobbi. I'm guessing guest service gives them out as thats what they did at the GCV but that's such a small resort I wasn't sure if there was another protocol. Hmm....so potentially if we're far from a pool, we could be eating cold steaks by the time we get back to the room? Guess we'll use that time walking back to let the meat rest. :rotfl2:

The spacing of the grills at SSR is not too bad, plus they have covered picnic tables at the grills.

AKV the grills could be a long walk, if you are nearer the end of the halls.

:thumbsup2 Good to know, thank you. DH likes the meat to rest, we eat it fairly rare, so a few minute walk would be okay. I like the picnic table idea. Better add plastic plates to my list.

We grilled once at BCV and could not find where to get utensils - we ended up using normal forks.

The shops generally carry charcoal.

By far the easiest to grill at are the THV as you have your own dedicated grill.

It seems most of the grills are rarely used, so I wouldn't expect issues using them.

With a little bit of prep though it can make for an excellant and economical meal while vacationing.

Thanks. :thumbsup2 Believe it or not it's not for economic reasons. We really get burned out on restaurant food. See we're spoiled as DH is an amazing chef. He made me promise though nothing elaborate but be he'd be happy to grill. He makes this burger he got from Gordon Ramsey's show and its seriously worth every calorie and then some.

Good tip on the charcoal. The grills at the GCV were propane so we didn't need charcoal.

We have a THV booked now but it looks like we'll be changing but I love how they each have their own grill. Visions of enjoying a frosty margarita while DH grills ribeyes are dancing through my head. :cloud9:

All 1 BR and larger should have what you need to Grill, I'd assume housekeeping will provide the same items to a studio if requested. All resort have grills but BWV only has 1 now I believe. For VB, their across the main road, not very convenient. VB didn't have them for several years though.

Thanks Dean. I'm putting *check for grilling utensils* on my arrival day to do list. The GCV 2 bedroom did not come with them.

Don't think anyone else mentioned it but, FYI, the grills at Walt Disney World resorts are charcoal grills...not gas grills like VGC. They sell charcoal at the resort marketplace.

Good to know as I would have assumed they were gas too. :thumbsup2 Looks like marinated tri tip has been added to the menu as our friends will join us for a BBQ. Love it. :woohoo:
