One of the things I enjoy about visiting the Magic Kingdom is there are 2 counter service restaurants that have a “fixin bar” with grilled onions and sauted mushrooms. Are there any restaurants at Disneyland or California Adventure that have this? :)

We are planning at Disneyland trip in November and during my most recent visit in 1975, I don’t remember this.

Thanks for your help!

Mike

Nope, sorry. TPG in DCA has a fixin bar with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, BBQ sauce and the Hungry Bear in DL has one but I have no idea what's on it anymore, used to just be standard lettuce, tomato, condiments but it may have changed with the new menu.

I am 99% sure that the River Bell Terrace had these when we ate lunch there back in April because I got the BBQ pork sandwich and was really excited to see mushrooms offered as I love them, but got them on the side as they don't really go with BBQ. I haven't been back since then (because I was not crazy about the food and bf's turkey sandwich was the driest piece of meat ever), but I don't think that has changed since then.

So it's been a while since your last trip? :rotfl: A few things may have changed since your last visit. teehee

If you're a senior (over 55) and staying at a Disney hotel, don't forget to ask for a senior discount, though you may not be a senior and I'm sorry to have offended if you aren't :0)

Actually I go all the time with my AP, I just never go back to the River Belle, but since the menu is the same, I can't imagine why that would go away.

Is Award Wieners still open in DCA? They appear to have a portabello sandwich with grilled mushrooms and onions (like a vegetarian cheesesteak, I guess). Doesn't look like it has any meat/etc. but if you were just hankering for the onions and mushrooms... (I'm not HUGE on mushrooms but it actually is sounding pretty good to me!)

Tony from the DLR podcast did a review of Award Wieners recently. He said he really liked the mushroom "dog" and it was his second favorite item there.

I was 10 at the time of my most recent Disneyland trip, so I have a few years to qualify for the discount. :) And no, I am not offended! If their a giving, I'm a takin!

In 1975, my family and I stayed at the Westward Ho Seaven Seas Motel which is now the Super 8 on Katella Ave. I have the postcards from that vacation and other than the signage the Super 8 looks the same as the Westward Ho.

I also have my Disneyland ticket book, park guide and brochure. Snow White autographed by park guide. I might take it back with me and ask her if she remembers me.

The last 2 years we visited WDW in the fall. Next year we have our first DCL cruise on the Dream and we're planning an Irish dance school trip to WDW in July. We thought a November trip to the Happiest Place on Earth would be a lot of fun.

We're planning on staying at the Ramada Maingate and I think walking from the motel to parks will be a nice change from the bus rides from our WDW resort to the parks. I will miss the Disney magic of staying on property, but I won't miss the price. However, I will miss the mushrooms and onions at the fixin bars at Magic Kingdom. They are a meal in themself.

Sad to say, Hungry Bear has never even had that much. The lettuce and tomato has always come along side the burger (I think there was even a point in time where they were charging like 99 cents EXTRA if you wanted a slice of tomato). They have an area with a sign that says "Fixins", but it has always been the usual fare, and still is. Mustard, mayo, ketchup, napkins, straws.
