Hi all,

Is there ANYWHERE around DLR (or off site) that makes a GOOD grilled cheese sandwich with REAL stringy cheese, not fake processed plastic wrapped cheese? I LOVE grilled cheese, but only if it's made with real cheese, the stringier the better, lol, and knew I could find the answer here!

Thanks so much,

Jules

Mimi's on Harbor Blvd between FFI and HOJO has the "five-way grilled cheese" I haven't personally tried it, but it sounds delicious! It has Cheddar, jack, Swiss and mozzarella on a grilled garlic parmesan Sourdough. :yay: :goodvibes

What about the vegetarian Monte Cristo sandwich served at Cafe Orleans and Blue Bayou? Here is the description, straight from their menu:

Three-Cheese Monte Cristo:

Swiss, Mozzarella, and Double Crème Brie fried
in a light batter and served with Berry Purée
dusted with Powdered Sugar

This isn't a traditional grilled cheese, but it is delicious!

Another DISer (I can't remember who) said that White Water Snacks at the GCH was the only place to get a real grilled cheese sandwich at DLR. I haven't tried it myself so I don't know what kind of cheese they use, but I do know that it comes in a kid's meal that includes seasonal fruit and your choice of low fat regular or chocolate milk. You can get soda or fries upon request. Here's the link to the menu: http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/men_wws.htm

Good luck on your grilled cheese quest! :goodvibes

Doesn't the new Jolly Holiday Bakery and Cafe place have grilled cheese? Since it just opened, I don't know if it is any good, but OP you should check it out and report back! ;)

I thought it was a funny coincidence that this rare question came up and the JHB just opened.

Although the JHB is calling it a Toasted Cheese sandwhich. I've seen two reviews and both agreed it's not gooey. It could change as the staff settles into its new kitchen.

As a former Mimi's employee, I can guarantee that their 5 way grilled cheese is awesome! It's actually one of my favorite things on the menu.

I saw it in person (didn't order it) and it did NOT look appetizing, unfortunately. The bread looked pale regular sliced bread, and it didn't look very "grilled."

WWS grilled cheese kids meal uses pasturized processed cheese. Still gooey and yummy, IMO.

La Brea has a yummy grilled cheese sandwiches. They have "Grilled Cheese Sliders"- 3 different kinds. They also have a classic grilled cheese made with Gruyere on sourdough. YUM.:lovestruc
