since our cruise ends on a Wednesday kinda seems wasteful to fly home with still a few days left of vacation anyone take the bus trip from Miami to Orlando. For $56 for the family seems like a steal (-4.5 hr journey o_O) so now the questions how much would the cab cost from port to Miami greyhound station, we have taken the bus from Orlando to Coronado springs resort I believe it was $60ish 13 years ago. A flight would cost $1500 direct

You might want to consider looking at Amtrak. It might be a more comfortable ride than the bus.

No offense to intercity bus riders, but I can't imagine getting off of a Disney cruise ship and hopping aboard a greyhound bus. Just my 2¢.

You might want to balance that with the cost of a car rental.
^This.

We've typically paid about $70 + gas & tolls for a one-day car rental from MIA car rental center to WDW, dropping off the car at the Dolphin. National and Alamo have a shuttle from the Port of Miami to the car rental center at the airport.

If I'm out of Miami and end mid-week (or have extra time into the next week) I will hang in Miami/Miami Beach for a bit. Love that area.

Funny things you'll do for Disney! For the price why not do it?

We're not familiar at with Miami only been to WDW in Orlando so we are not at all comfortable driving ourselves. Want as stress free as possible vacation and we are not above taking a bus to enjoy some WDW.

I certainly understand the attraction of wanting to spend time at WDW before or after a DCL cruise. However, I don't believe taking a greyhound bus between Miami and Orlando would necessarily be stress free. IMHO, I think the logistics could be daunting. First you have to get from the port to the bus station. I am not familiar with the bus schedule, but you may have some waiting around at the bus station before your bus departs. Then your on the bus for your 4.5 hour bus ride. OK, you get to Orlando, and now you have to find your way to where you are going to stay. I doubt WDW has Magic Express that runs from the bus station.

My advice is either stay in the Miami area after the cruise, or rent a car and drive to WDW.

Be aware that some Greyhound routes allow choosing seats. I haven't been on one in years, but if you're going to do this, make sure you know what you're doing. You don't want to get there and be surprised. Also, I assume you'll be flying home from Orlando, then? No point in returning to Miami. Have you checked the price of a flight from MIA to MCO? Probably much higher, but you never know.

The train won't happen until 2020 for service to Orlando from Miami. A rental car can be had cheap if you qualify for certain corporate rates.

Same, and my dad is a former driver and I grew up most das-custody weekends on the bus between Santa Cruz and San Francisco.

But those were in the regulated Union days when drivers could kick a drunk passenger off the bus along the highway if the passenger is bothering others. I've heard it's verrrry different now.

I wouldn't step foot on a greyhound now, and haven't since 1992.

Could it be a problem in Florida (specifically)? I've done Greyhound Montreal-New York (round trips) many times and never ever had a problem. Always went well...

As someone who has moved halfway across the country via Greyhound, I'll never set foot on one again. It was awful.

Driving it is easy. You get onto the Dolphin Expressway in Miami and head west until you get to the Turnpike. Head north on the Turnpike. Follow the Turnpike until you get to Orlando then get onto I-4 headed west and follow the signs to the World.

Considering we once took a 2.5 day greyhound trip from Toronto Ontario Canada to Orlando once, Miami to Orlando is nothing. Yes I've checked flights home from both Miami and Orlando, yes Miami is cheaper but not by much. We are not picky people we have no problem taking cabs from port to bus we'd have to cab to airport either way, and from Orlando station to WDW not a big deal either, and we would use ME WDW to Orlando airport. I'd feel renting a car would be much more of a hassle. We have experience travelling this is not new to us, just Miami is!

Why aren't you comfortable driving yourself? Don't you ever take road trips?
