Hello everyone. I have been coming to these forums for awhile and appreciate all the great information that everyone has taken time to post.

Now I have a question of my own.... I've been to Disney many many times before, but have always stayed offsite.

I'm planning a trip for my family next month to Disney and really would like to experience being onsite. Additionally, my wife just broke her foot and will be in a cast and we have an infant and toddler..so I'm looking for convenience as well.

I think I've narrowed my choice to these two:

Board Walk Villas- I like the separate room for the kids (usually always do this). Don't care about the kitchen. Sounds like its very convenient to Epoc (walk to World Showcase?) and a Boat ride to MGM? How easy to get to MK? Any how close is it really from the Villas to transportation?

Poly with a Lagoon View and Concierge- Seems like the most accessible..just concerned about room size.

Thanks in advance for your input.

If you need to take the bus to AK or MK, you just walk out the front by valet parking, down the sidewalk to the bus stop. You can even walk to Disney Studios.

You will be surprised at how handy the kitchen becomes with a full sized refrigerator handy, plus a microwave and stove (and a toaster, too). You'll also have the stacked washer and dryer in the one bedroom. If you get a studio, you won't get separate rooms, but you will still have access to a washer and dryer.

With an infant and toddler I think you'd find Poly Concierge more convenient. You can monorail to MK so you won't need to fold up your stroller(s) and you can walk to TTC to catch the direct monorail to Epcot. Bus to MGM & AK.

You just can't beat the convenience of concierge with young kids. One adult can take the kids to the lounge for breakfast while the other gets ready. And just the convenience of milk and juice boxes is great.

I just got back from the Poly Concierge with my DH, DD(4 1/2), DS(turned 3 there), DD(turned 1 yesterday) and another adult friend. DH & I each shared a bed with a kid, DD(1) was in a crib, and friend was in the daybed. The kids are so tired they slept fine. The rooms are big and we only felt a bit cramped because I rented a full size crib and had both a double & single stroller.

A lagoon view room at the Poly is so magical. Watch the fireworks at night, the castle changing colors and the Electric Water Pagent.

I've only stayed at the BWV once and we had a studio. It felt really small for just 2 adults.

Having had a broken foot a couple of years ago I think I would vote for the Poly. I love the concierge there; it is convenient. Although there isn't a separate room for the children the rooms are large.

As for getting around with a cast (or if the cast is off; using a foot that is somewhat weakened) I think the ease from the Poly would be best...boat or monorail to MK, monorail to Epcot and then buses elsewhere.

The walk from BW to Epcot or MGM might be prohibitive with a cast or a newly uncasted foot...and sometimes those boats are pretty slow.

We've stayed at the BWV...1 bedroom, and it was very nice!

but, at the POLY concierge, you'll will taken care of !
Esp with your DW's disability!
Took my mother there, Poly concierge, when she was using a cane, previous hip surgery!

They placed us next to lounge, they brought goodies to our room, etc....

Mention it on your ressies about her foot, and all.....;)

Also, with an infant and toddler, that zero entry volcano pool will be perfect!::yes::

ANd....the concierge building is right next to the volcanoe pool!
Making it a snap for you to run "next door" to get drinks and snacks!

Many thanks for your info and the welcome (love the banner btw BT)!

I really have been wanting to do the Poly because I think we would experince more "Disney Magic" there. How can you beat sitting on your balcony to watch the fireworks with Cinderella's Castle as a backdrop? Plus, I remember being on the Monorail as a kid and always thinking it would be so cool to stay at the Poly.

However....

I'll be renting an ECV for my DW and will also have a Crip in the room (plus stroller, etc) I'm afraid my DW will have a very hard time getting around the room on her crutches with so much in there.

I'm thinking a 1BR Villa at BWV may be the more prudent option. Not only does it sound like we'll have the space (and that they are nice as well), she'll be able to scoot along to Epcot or MGM directly.

One last question though please: Where do you enter Epoc from the BWV? (wondering if it's near the MK monorail). Also, how "efficient" is the bus that runs from BWV to MK?

Thanks again!

You enter Epcot through the International Gateway near Great Britain in the World Showcase.

They are changing the buses from the Epcot resorts to make two bus routes - one from Swan/Dolphin/BW and one from YC/BC. Should work nicely for you.

We own at BCV which is very simlar in configuration to BWV. Our DD has cp and uses either a manual or these days a power wheelchair at WDW. For her, the rooms at the Polynesian are much easier to navigate. They are very large and OPEN and there is plenty of room next to the armoire for her chair and even her walker if we have that along. The rooms at the villas are great...love the washer/dryer and full refrig...but not as much open floor space to manuever aroung and quite a few angles.

With a 1BR you and your wife would have a king in the MBR but not much floor space for the chair. There is a fold out bed in the living room for your toddler and then you would need to squeeze in the crib.

Transportation is easier from the Polynesian, too, we think. A short walk to the TTC for the monorail to EPCOT makes it as convenient to that park as BW/BC. The boat to MGM is nice but slow!!! From the Polynesian you would need to drive or take a bus to MGM and AK but the same is true for MK and AK from BWV. And if you stay at the Polynesian and are returning by bus, you can catch whichever comes first... a bus to the TTC or to the Polynesian.

And with kids your age I imagine you'll spend quite a bit of time at MK. From the Polynesian you can take the monorail or the ferry from the TTC rolling right on with the stroller and chair.

Good luck whichever you choose.
