Some of our vines have died off leaving some nice size green tomatoes. I cleaned out the dead vines and have almost a dozen good sized green tomatoes. Any ideas for them? TIA Grammy

slice them however you want (thick or thin - I prefer a 1/4" slice)
dredge in cornstarch then a cornmeal/flour mixture (seasoned with salt, pepper, pinch of garlic, pinch of onion powder)
get your oil nice and hot and drop these babies in. just a few slices at a time - you don't really want to cover the whole pan, leave some room for the oil to completely surround them.
when the tomatoes are golden on one side flip
when they are golden on the other side remove to a rack to drain
ooh, I'm going to fry my green tomato tonight...I accidentally picked it while looking to see if it had blossom end rot (it doesn't). It's a pretty one, too...sad that it's green...
I vote fried green tomatoes. I get teased because I go around and beg friends for the green ones. I was raised on them but here in Michigan very few people know how good they are.
