OK, DIS'ers, Went to Home Depot and got my lime green Mickeys. Now what do I do? I know I should laminate them to make them last longer, should I also put our DIS Board name on them or do most folks leave them blank ? Finally, I guess figure out some way to wear it as a name tag then we'll be good to go. Right ?

Thanks for the help. What a great idea to be able to spot one another, and meet some new friends.

Below is a photo of the pin I made for my DW. I scanned the Alien Green Mickey head into my computer, then added her name and my DISname to the photo, then printed it off and placed it in this button that I bought at A.C. Moore.

thats creative verandaman...

I was just go to put them in my disney cruise line landyard and put some on my door....Even though it 15months away i already started planning and making stuff for door. My parents think i am crazy!!

Where did you get a DCL lanyard?

I wish the paint chips were a little bigger. Are yours like a sticker on a rectangular piece of paper and are you all just cutting out the mickey head outline? Maybe my DH picked up the wrong thing from Home Depot. :confused3

Mine are just peel and stick heads. I guess I could scan and print some extra's.

I tried to cut one out and didn't have very good luck so I turned my hairdryer on warm and pulled them apart. I had read a suggestion about putting them in the microwave to loosen the adhesive but I had better luck with my hair dryer.

Then I glued them to a thin piece wood, DH cut them out on his scroll saw, I glued a pin to the back of them and used scrapbook letters with our names to the front. It was fun and they lasted the entire cruise - we even made some and mailed them to other cruisers on our sailing.

We went to Home Depot and got ours too. I got some to make luggage tags with, and picked up some red white and blue ones for our cabin door (DH is air force). Still not sure how I am going to make them for a possible DIS meet this June, then again 7/22/06 (Hi Jazstar :wave2: )

Okay - I am new here so I have to ask...what are the mickey's for? What is the purpose of having them? ::MickeyMo

bhoffman - Welcome! There are many uses for the Mickey heads that you can pick up at Home Depot - door signs, nametags (so fellow DISers cruising with you can pick you out of the crowd and you can find them), luggage tags, scrapbooking - whatever your imagination can come up with.

Thanks for not making fun of me! :earsgirl: I thought I was really missing something. We actually have already picked up every "normal" color of these as my so is OBSESSED with Mickey and I picked them up to use as flash cards to teach him his colors! I notice you are from Michigan, we are too! We cruise in July and I can't wait!!! Kids LOVE Disney World (of course) so we are doing a land/sea. Thanks again!

I never thought of using them for scrapbooking.... :rotfl:
And I have all kinds of disney scrapbooking items. Now all I have to do is put the scrapbook together. LOL

You can get one on the ship, they sell them i don't know how much, but they are quite nice and full of memories. It hangs on a hook in my room, waiting to be use for our next disney cruise on 7/22/06(Hi  bethipooh)

i'm sorry, i was trying to follow here, as well...but i'm lost! what exactly is it? and in what section? i didn't realize that home depot sells mickey stuff... :flower:

The Mickey head people are discussing are not sold...they are the paint color samples for Disney's brand of paint. Home Depot has a display that shows all the paint colors and the color samples are shaped like Mickey heads....they are what people take home to choose colors.

thank you, mmouse37!! now i get it! it all makes sense now! really appreciate it! :flower:
