With the encouragement of a few folks on this board I decided to make a solo trip to OKW with my two DS to celebrate DS 6th birthday. This was a last minute trip and to save points I decided to stay in a studio at OKW! This resort is fabulous!! I have already told my husband we need to add points there.
Crowds were low and we did not wait in any line longer than 10 minutes. We were able to attend the cast member preview of Soarin with a friend who is a CM for Disney. Spent a great day at Blizzard Beach and we had alot of pool time. My DS6 and DS3 both loved the new slide.
We decided to drive over and check out the pool at SSR. While the boys loved this pool, the slide access made me nervous. Halfway up to the slide from the pool the kids could go in any direction toward either the spa or Artist Palette. It was tough to be in the pool to catch DS3 and also make sure he went the way he was supposed to.
We had dinner at Artist Palette and we were extremely disappointed. This was the only negative of the trip. The food quality was poor and the restaurant was dirty. We were the only people in the restaurant getting dinner and in our section over half of the tables had not been wiped down. We will not be back there for food anytime soon.
We had numerous magical experiences this trip. The CM's went out of their way to make my son's birthday special. There was a signed card from Mickey in the room the first night and balloons the entire week! Most of the CM's at OKW remembered the boys by name. My youngest DS had a Squirt stuffed animal stolen from his stroller at MGM. When I went back into the store I had purchased it from earlier in the day the CM saw he was crying and asked him what was wrong. DS3 told him a bad guy took his Squirt. Well the CM cut the tags off one and gave it to him at no charge. I was amazed.
We also had the opportunity to meet the Super Hoopers. This couple from Georgia are regulars at OKW. Mr. Hooper made magnets for the boys before we left. They are proudly hanging on the refrigerator holding up pictures from the trip.
I am already planning our January trip and although we had planned to stay at BWV I am considering trying to convince my husband to switch to OKW. Now if only I could figure out how to get him to buy those extra points!
