Great seafood restaurant ...on or offsite?

HI,
We are coming to Disney the end of May- beginning of June (staying onsite) and would like a really good seafood restaurant. We don't really care if it is onsite or offsite.
Any recomendations?

when we go to orlando, we always go to the "dixie crossroads" seafood restaurant. it's on the very north end of I-drive. great seafood, their specialty is rock shrimp which taste a whole lot like lobster

We also enjoy Dixie Crossroads. It is a family style restaurant not fine dining if that is what you are looking for but very good?

For more a more upscale choice, try Blue Zoo at the Dolphin. Excellent seafood/fish.

There's also a place called Fishbones that's been getting RAVE reviews. I haven't tried it yet, but it's over near the convention center off I-Drive on Sand Lake. Based on the people I know who have eaten there, it's going to be a casual type of place.

We love Joe's Crab Shack. Offsite, end of Hotel Plaza Blvd. turn left about 1/4 mile on the left....This is a fun place, great seafood and a lot of acitivity going on. It is loud at times w/music and the staff dances. Typical meal is around $15-20. Great Tshirts!! "Got Crabs?" It's one of those places that has stuff all over the walls and ceiling. The food is good.

You never said if you want upscale or not. Everyone has seafood in FL.
Fine dining: Go to the swan.

Stay away from the $20 seafood buffets in Int'l. drive, we have tried a few...usually gross!!

My experience with Joe's left me not wanting to go back. The food was lousy and overpriced. I would rather have gone to Red Lobster.

We've also been hearing great things about Roy's in the Sand Lake area. It's next on our list of places to try; the area manager at Jiko sat next to us at a wine dinner there and raved about it, and I figured he knew a thing or two about good dining

Theres an great restaurant I've been too recently right near International Drive and Sand Lake it's called Salt Island. It's pretty upscale but they have really fresh fish and lobster it's great.

Fulton's Crab House in DownTown Disney is top of the line. The restaurant looks like an old paddle wheel steamboat docked on the lake. Their lobster bisque is outstanding! As is everything else. We've had shrimp, pasta with seafood and king crab legs there. We go every year! Awesome!

Also, Cap'n Jack's is right in DownTown Disney and they're on the dining plan. We had twin lobster tails that were perfect along with the best shrimp cocktail and Maryland style crab cakes we've ever had.....and we know what's good!

Just ate at Fulton's Seafood DTD today, was good! (Lunch though, I had the seafood salad and lobster bisque, both were excellent!)

Friday night we ate at California Grill, many in our group had seafood. Many also commented (I had the pork tenderloin) that this was one of the best meals they had ever eaten!

Sun night we ate at Jiko - AKL - several had the pan seared scallops, and I tried them, they were excellent.

I have also been to an EXCELLENT local seafood restaurant off of Sand Lake Drive (over by Universal) called Moonfish. I took our property managers there for dinner last trip to say "thank you" for taking such good care of our guests and our home. They had sushi on the menu, great surf and turf, and it was VERY expensive just so you know! LOL (but awesome!)

Fishbones sounds like a great place! What's the easiest way to get there from Saratoga Springs? (We will have a car). I'm just not that familiar with I-Drive, but we will be at Universal one day on our next trip.

It's really odd, but Orlando doesn't really have a serious local seafood restaurant culture. It's only about an hour from the ocean, but they just don't seem to care about it that much. Not like in Louisiana, where towns an hour from the Gulf all have wonderful local seafood joints, and pickup trucks selling fresh catch are pulled up in bank parking lots on the weekends as far as 3 hours inland.

Aside from Blue Zoo, Flying Fish, and Fishbones, I generally don't bother with seafood in Orlando. I save my fish feasting for our beach days.

Agreed. The only other place would be McCormick & Schmick, but that's a chain that's all over the palce, so...
